Fruitland High football beats Casa Roble on Saturday

By Trevor Horn
Special to the Statesman

Fruitland head football coach Bruce Schlaich needed a little assistance to even make the trip to Northern California. His Grizzlies then received a little more help late in the fourth quarter to seal a 29-22 victory Saturday against Casa Roble in El Dorado Hill, Calif.

Casa Roble was called for two straight unsportsmanlike conduct calls with less than two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, giving the Grizzlies command of the ball and a hard fought victory.

Fruitland quarterback's ejection overturned

The Fruitland High football team received good news ahead of its game in California this week.

Quarterback Joe Martarano’s ejection against Ontario, Ore., last week was overturned, meaning he can play against Casa Roble on Saturday.
