Sierra Manzer of Melba High was selected as the 2012-13 Gatorade Idaho Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year on Thursday.
The 5-foot-2 sophomore raced to the 2A individual state championship this past season in a time of 18 minutes, 34.98 seconds, leading the Mustangs to a second-place finish as a team.
Manzer earned a 12th-place finish at the Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional championships, crossing the line in 18:48.1. She also placed 16th at the Foot Locker West Regional championships in 19:07.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Toby Anderson, Skyview: The 6-foot-5 senior forward led the Hawks in scoring in two victories last week. In a 60-45 win over Bishop Kelly, Anderson had 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal. Anderson then added 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 73-40 victory against Kuna, which kept the Hawks unbeaten in conference play.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Porter Gustin, Emmett: The 6-foot-3 sophomore forward spearheaded the Huskies' win in the Fruitland Christmas Tournament last week. Gustin scored 32 points with four rebounds and two assists in a 66-63 win over defending 3A state championship Fruitland, and then added 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a 52-35 win against New Plymouth in the championship game.

Six-foot-5, 225-pound junior Don Hill recently received scholarship offers to play football for Boise State and Utah.
The Timberline High defensive end finished among the top 10 in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference this season with five sacks and was voted to the 5A SIC's all-conference second team.
Timberline football coach Kirk Copeland said Hill has not yet made a commitment.
