Back to the Bleat: Have you ever lived on a fixed income? Are you lucky enough to tackle most of your healthcare expenses? Can you really afford to drive? Are your parents, or even your children all about to live in a yurt with a dirt floor sitting on that floor with chopsticks and ramen if either of you have ONE MORE SLIP?

Have you ever walked in a grocery store and looked at the price of fresh meat and bought a cheap pizza twin pack (the kind with pancakes for dough)?

The 2007 Idaho Fish & Game Pheasant Stocking program appears to be off to a rocky start. As a pheasant hunter who has taken advantage of the opportunities the stocking program provides over the last several years, it is apearant to me that the birds planned for the Fort Boise WMA, and particulary the CJ Strike WMA, are not being met. Has anyone else made a similar observation? Where can we as citizens receive an accurate accounting of the number of birds released to each area? Hunters such as myself are happy to support the program through the purchase of the special six-bird permit, but I

I recently read an article about a new task force that is interested in increasing the number of stay at home moms and reinstating the concept of a "nuclear family". I won't quote everything they want to do here; but basicaly they feel that if the majority of women quit their jobs and went home, or got married; crime would decrease, people would be happier and the economy would solidify.

They've got high hopes, no? Sure, maybe today's American misses the sight of white picket fences and a steaming pot roast in the evening. Perhaps the reason why there are more gangs is these people watched their fathers walk out when they were young, and now they are angry and carry guns. Divorce does cause problems. Kids in daycare and preschool face long hours without their parent's values to influence them. Having two people per household out on the road increases pollution, insurance rates and gas prices. Etc. etc. etc.

With bad news about stocks, layoffs, oil and foreclosures, how will these changes in the economy affect you?

Idaho is an "At Will" employment state, which in conjunction with the Right to Work laws (Idaho Code 44-2001), means that no one really is protecting our jobs. According to the guidelines of at will states, you and the employer do not have a contract for employment and you or the employer can terminate employment at any time without notice. And unfortunately, many Micron workers have felt this sting as well as other workers around the valley. I agree unions are not the answer, but the ideals that founded unions are still required to protect the working class. It is obvious that government supports big business and will do nearly anything to keep them happy.

Amtrak CEO told Sen. Mike Crapo that the company would consider the feasibility of reinstating the historic Pioneer route between Chicago and Seattle that once chugged through Boise and other southern Idaho towns. Should Amtrak reinstate the route?

With all the DUIs, accidents, articles on overcrowding of jails & prisons, health care issues, detox center, & now a cop gets hit while taking a DUI arrest to jail I would think government is going to make an evaluation.

Is the money generated by alcohol worth all the problems it's causing? Should we pay & provide benefits to state employees to sell alcohol? Which of our representatives accepted $ from alcohol companies or businesses which sell allcohol?
