If You Ran the 2008 Legislature...

What you like to see the Idaho Legislature do in 2008?
(other than go back home).

Seriously, what are some positive and doable (repealing the income tax is not doable)things?

The Educated Fool

Hola! I have returned to college campuses after thirty years and have found that there is a conspiracy to enable stupidity to thrive to an extreme. This affects students on all levels of education because imposters are forcing them out of higher education. What I say about secret access codes being used is hard to prove since universities are now closed communities with their own access systems like Cornell's Bear Access. With all work now being done on the computer, it is possible for even the stupidest people to graduate from elite universities.

Hi-Tech Fool Report: Prelude: Make W prove beyond a shadow of doubt that he ever graduated from any place. There is no way any school would pass someone who mangles the language like that. It is not anything other than his old man having fried his brain @ 55 years ago. Put an end to this teleprompting or wireless transmission (ear receiver?) of every single word that he says. I bet that you will find that he talks like a moron or worse all the time. Bush Daddy says that VP Cheney has been W's "voice", er, i.e. brains. 10/29 Bush Daddy says that having a dunce in the White House is proof that poopheads are in control. I bet W is functionally illiterate! 10/31 Have you proven that yet? 11/16 Meanwhile Bush Daddy says that his kid is going crazy. I say, "Fifty-five years ago you fried his brains! It's not an issue today! All his professed emotions are bogus!" 11/16 Bush Daddy says that they don't have to reveal what they did to get a diploma. "Since when?"

Gas prices are high, Air quality is low…

In the past the federal government has allowed tax write offs to offset the purchase price of hybrid vehicles in an attempt to encourage choosing vehicles that use less gasoline and produce less pollution. Here in the Treasure Valley as gas prices have risen and air quality has dropped, record numbers of motorcycles and what are being labeled as "alternative vehicles" such as mopeds and motor scooters have hit the road. These vehicles likewise use less fuel (some models getting as much as 80-100 MPG), pollute less and are already readily available. Should the federal Government or the State of Idaho make an attempt to encourage the purchase of these vehicles as well? If so, what type of incentives would be appropriate? Tax breaks to cover a portion of their purchase price? lowering or eliminating registration fees? What do you think, do you own a motorcycle, are you a moped rider? Do you ride a bicycle and wish to see city streets more bicycle friendly.

Water Buyout?

Let me get this straight. The Idaho Department of Water Resources gives more of our water away than exists?! It seems tradition and the State Constitution provides a remedy: First in time, first in right!

But apparently, cutting off junior water rights holders is not politically popular, especially cutting off Republican farmers. So instead, the taxpayers will provide the money for a select group of Republicans to pay farmers to stop using our water.

Of course, this will be done on a selective basis largely ignoring the first in time principle.

This process should be taught in every Idaho Civics class.

Idaho Song - Music Video

Hi, I didn't know where to post this, please don't delete it from the forum. It should be in an entertainment category, but I see none here. Thanks.

Hi, I'm looking for some Idaho filmmakers who want to help piece together a video for a song I wrote about Idaho. Here is the video that I did:

People love the song, and burst out in applause when I perform it live. I feel that it would make a great song for Idaho and a great vehicle to promote film making in this state.

Thanks for taking a look at it.

Matt Lauer interview with Sen. Larry Craig

NBC will air Matt Lauer's interview with Sen. Larry Craig on Tuesday night. Are you planning to watch it? What do you think Craig will say? What do you want him to say? Is there anything he could say that would change your current opinion of him -- either in favor or against?

Sick of Sen. Craig?

A headline on style="text-decoration:underline;"> an editorial in Wednesday's Idaho Mountain Express in Ketchum puts it bluntly: "Sick of Senator Craig."

Is that how you feel?

Idaho's next senator

Lt. Gov. Jim Risch and former Congressman Larry LaRocco are already looking for votes for next year's race to replace Larry Craig. Who are you backing and why?

Cost of living

A new study says Idaho's cost of living has outstripped wage increases style="text-decoration:underline;">(click here for the story, and to read the report.)

Do you agree?

And should Idaho politicians do anything about it?
