The remains of U.S. Army Spc. Robert E. Dyas of Nampa are carried Sunday as they are formally transferred to his family at Gowen Field. Dyas was killed in action in Afghanistan on Sep. 21, 2011.

The Odd Couple

Tony Jenkins of Eagle brought his two dogs, Boston Terrier Sophie, left, and English Mastiff Hooch, to the event Saturday. "She runs the show," said Jenkins about the diminutive terrier, "And he's the cowardly lion," he said, about the bigger dog.

When I visited Priest Lake in November of 2006 for the Statesman's "Seven Wonders of Idaho" project (above), I was wowed by the secluded beauty of the lake. I vowed to return someday when the weather was more conducive to swimming.
