Lincoln's signature established the territory in 1863.
"This is an occasion for celebration," Bateman told the House State Affairs Committee Thursday. "We need to talk about this event and not just let it slide by."

"The Superintendent is on his way," said Senate Finance Committee Chairman Dean Cameron, R-Rupert, said at the top of the hour. "He indicates he's been on the road for over an hour. Hopefully, he'll be here in a few minutes."
Luna arrived at 8:05 a.m., and the meeting convened a minute later.

Idaho Speaker Bedke headed for new speaker training, courtesy of big business

The training is sponsored by the Massachusetts-based State Legislative Leaders Foundation and runs Thursday through Saturday in Austin, hosted by Texas Speaker Joe Straus. The group also holds annual meetings for speakers.

Meridian High names new football coach

Lacey, 31, has most recently been the head coach at New Plymouth, where he led the Pilgrims to five straight state playoff appearances.
"He understood the big picture with football. He understood that it starts down with those middle school kids," Wolf said. "... Another thing that jumped out to me is he is an amazing teacher, and amazing teachers are amazing coaches."
New bill would elect Idaho county commissioners by district, shrinking scale of campaigns

"It's to get people in those zones to have the ability to get true representation," Durst said Wednesday, after the Senate State Affairs Committee voted to print his bill.
