Check out October Brewer's Festival in Boise's Linen District tonight

Fresh craft beer will be flowing tonight at Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cuisine at 1515 W. Grove St. in Downtown Boise tonight — and it's for a good cause.

Four of the Treasure Valley's local brewers — The Ram, Sockeye, TableRock, and Ontario-based Beer Valley — will join pacific northwest beer stalwarts Widmer/Red Hook to help raise money for the Boise Nordic Foundation tonight.

Boise State-Louisiana Tech pizza winners

We've decided to award two $20 Domino's Pizza gift certificates again this week in our Name the Score contest. Boise State defeated Louisiana Tech 38-3 Wednesday night on the blue.

The winners:

JLF picked Boise State 35-6, a six-point differential.

dwr1961 picked Boise State 37-9, a seven-point differential. There were several guesses with a seven-point difference, but dwr came the closest to the Broncos' actual score.

Thanks to all who participated this week. Be sure to enter again next week when the Broncos visit Southern Miss.

Boise High boys soccer ranked eighth in region; Centennial-Vallivue voted Game of the Week

Boise High's boys soccer team, which beat Caldwell 10-0 on Wednesday to improve to 12-0-0 overall and 8-0-0 in conference play, is ranked No. 8 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Region VIII rankings.

The rankings, which were released prior to Boise's two wins this week, are topped by California's Sacramento Jesuit in first, Portland's Westview in second and California's Davis in third.

Boise entered the top 15 at 14th on September 9, moved up to eighth on September 23 and remained in that position for the list released Tuesday.

Palin's view on climate change far different than skeptics

One of the issues Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin differs with John McCain on is global warming. But the differences now are not as large as her critics suggest.

Elfreda Higgins' party switch

Elfreda Higgins is Republican candidate turned non-candidate turned Democratic candidate.

That won't win her any GOP friends in her legislative District 16 — a moderate district encompassing Garden City and Northwest Boise. She was recruited by local Republicans, who have right to feel burned. If she's elected next month, she'll also have some explaining to do around the House chambers — having sent a letter to House Republicans exhorting the importance of returning the House seat to the GOP fold.

Deadwood Reservoir is still the place for trout

Deadwood Reservoir is a long haul but anglers willing to drive the bumpy roads to the reservoir north of Lowman are still catching trout.

The latest report we have gotten is that salmon eggs are the way to go.

One angler said they drove over Scott Mountain Road. It was rough and bumpy but they made it in. You can also go through Bear Valley.

Anglers are usually in a rush to get into Deadwood Reservoir as early in the season as possible, but it seems like they forget about it in the fall.

Boise State 38, Louisiana Tech 3 (final)

It's a final: Boise State 38, Louisiana Tech 3

Kellen Moore threw for more than 300 yards. Ian Johnson had more than 100 yards receiving. Kicker Kyle Brotzman had a great night punting and kicking. And the defense was very good again.

Fourth quarter

Boise State 38, Louisiana Tech 3

BSU: D.J. Harper 3 run (Kyle Brotzman kick), 10:59
Drive notes: Ian Johnson had two catches for 71 yards on the drive. Harper also had a 20-yard reception as the Bulldogs struggled to contain the Bronco backs in the passing game.

Third quarter

Bingham out for La. Tech

By Chadd Cripe

Boise State senior defensive tackle Sean Bingham will not play Wednesday night against Louisiana Tech. Bingham has an undisclosed injury and is not in uniform.

Senior Steven Reveles, who has played well this season, is expected to start in Bingham's place.

That is expected to be the only lineup change.

A few things I'm watching tonight:

-- How the Broncos' run defense fares against the first true power running team they've seen this year. Run defense was a concern last season.
