Wish we had some French Basque
Don't get me wrong enjoy Spanish Basque food but French Basque food is so much better. What I would do for some pickled cows tongue.
French Basques aren't real Basques anyway
..
Basques are Basques.
Some come from North of the Spanish/French border. Some come from the South.
Basques are Basques?
Don't tell them that, or they will fight you.
Not only that, but California Basques aren't real Basques either
Just the ones from Nevada, Oregon and Idaho.
PJ, you are kidding, right?
Just hoping someone from California is going to take the bait?
Yeah BC, I'm just trying to start a fight
Must not have enough Bascos on here to get one going. Ironically I won't be able to attend the Basque festival because I will be attending a class on Basque politics this weekend.
Oh, no!
Now that is some unfortunate scheduling! Who would do such a thing?
I was wrong, it's a Basque culture class
So we will likely be taking part in the festival as part of our course work. The politics class is this fall. Better scheduling than I thought.
That's better...even those in Basque politics take a break
when it comes to local festivals. Good luck with your course work and have a great weekend! The problem with the weekend is that I have to take Monday off of work to recover.
That's a problem?
..
Good point. I'll quite whining. :)
.
Are you Basque?
..
Yes, I am.
My mother's side of the family is Basque. I lived in the Basque Country for some years when I was younger.
I'm not
But I figure if you live in Boise, you might as well embrace the culture, and the classes are free since I am going to school anyway. It's been a lot of fun.
Good for you! It's a rich culture.
It's always good to learn about the cultures in your area. I hope you have a great time at the festival. Watch for me. I'll be the one drinking wine, eating chorizos and dancing jotas. Ondo pasa!
Yeah, you'll stick out like a sore thumb!!
Not!!
One of the best times I barely remember was oniati
at the old prison. YeeeeeeeHaw
Did you hear about the Poetry Contest...
Did you hear about the Basque Poetry Contest they used to have?
The last one at the old Prison went like this.....
The stage was crowded and there was a contestant from Harvard, a poet-laurate by chance, who was "just passing throgh"...
One of the others was a Basque sheep herder, just off the range for the celebration...
The others contestants were eliminated through the rounds.
The final two was the old man and the Harvard grad.
The final word was Timbuktu,
The Harvard Grad was first,
"Revielle blew at the crac of dawn,
We knew within the hour we'd be gone,
The air was crisp the sky was blue,
Our destination, Timbuktu....
Clap, clap, clap... of course you'd expect a good one from him. The sheep herder was scratching his beard... almost disqualified for taking so much time, he spoke up....
Tim and I a-camping we went,
3 broads we lured into our tent,
They were three and we but two
so I bucked one and
Tim bucked two....
Guess who won....
saigon74u , you are a sick pervert , I have always .........
........ admired that in you .
Reddog
