2:56 p.m. -- Town hall meeting Thursday to address mobile homes, affordable housing : comments

GOOD RIDDANCE!

Bulldoze those ugly mobile home sites down and build some nice homes.

did you ever ....

think that maybe that is all the people can afford? Not everyone can have a big nice home.

Let Them Eat Cake

If all you can afford is a mobile home, then that's what you buy.

Sounds like California writer should live in a mobile home for several years.

Who would want to

live in a mobile home?

people who...

dont have much money maybe.

Nobody WANTS to gofigure.

I guess you're part of the crowd that will piss and moan about having to support the poor and then once they're able to get a home, however humble, piss and moan about what kind of home they're able to afford. And I'll be you call yourself a Christian too, right?

Sorry (some) transplants, but it's so easy to sniff you guys out. Native born Idahoans were taught that being snooty is something to be ashamed of. You can keep your "fine whine."

I could be wrong.

Go crawl back into your doublewide,

grab another beer and complain to someone else.

You don't know nuthin'!

We gots us a TRIPLE wide!!!! Weez high society!

LOL., and still

got room for the Pinto in the driveway!

Notice the simulated woodgrain

"woody" look. It's high falutin' too!

If you buy a mobile home

and put it on rented property, you are always at risk of having the land that it sits on sold out from under you.

What are the alternatives?

In any capitalistic society you are going to have people above the poverty line and people below. Not everyone can have the same standard of living in a capitalistic society. It just does not work that way. If everyone below the poverty line got better jobs, the poverty line would just shift upwards to compensate. The same thing happen when more and more families started sending both parents into the work force. Instead of that being the exception it is now the standard if you want to maintain a decent standard of living in todays environment.

All is good when Osa . . .bama takes over

we'll ALL get our government standard housing. No one should be better than anyone else.

We are a country of free choice

you'll be surprised how many people of higher income enjoy living in simplistic housing.

HEY

Hey California, your name says it all!

??

Q: What do a Texas tornado and a Garden City divorce have in common?

A: SOMEBODY is going to be losing a trailer house!

If bikeboy divorces his wife

is she still his sister?

I think your joke is pretty good bikeboy.

A trailor in a Garden City trailor park. I doubt anyone blogging here lives in one there...It's like a double bad thing. Why not get a motor home folks? There are some sweet coach parks out there for the snowbirds...

We Need...

We need housing available for all levels of income. That doesn't mean the rich aught to pay for the poor, nor does it mean the poor should abuse the system. If there is a need the need should be looked at and addressed. The system needs to be fixed so it works for all of us.

we live

below our means and still cant save any money

Idea

Why don't the space renters buy the land when its up for sale. I'm sure many lawyers could form them in a business agreement as partners. It could be done because its been done.

Just a quick thought before I sleep,

Why is it that people complain about trailer parks out of one side of their face and beg for mortgage help from the feds out the other side? I read somewhere that upwards of 90% of all "manufactured homes" are paid for and the other 10% have a minimal payment to income ratio in the household. Having said that, it is also a well proven fact that modern mobile homes are far more efficient than stick homes. Sure trailer parks have a negative connotation whenever they are discussed in general conversation, but the original idea behind trailer parks was intended for very affluent consumers in the early 50's. trailer parks are generally filled with senior citizens that cannot afford the tax burden imoosed on them if they owned a stick home. The old codgers are generally more frugal with their money and are by in large not a burden on society, unlike the majority of "home speculators" that have their butts in a sling now because they can't make their ballooning mortgage payments. Think about it, other than the dirt under the trailer, they really aren't that bad.

I'm glad someone's paying attention to this.

Manufactured homes are the only ticket to the American Dream for many people, and it's tragic that so many lose all they've worked for. Let's work together to find a solution to this problem.

Stepping stones

I once lived in a small room. Then moved into a small apartment. Over time the size of the apartments that I was able to afford grew. Later; after saving up enough money, I was able to buy a 3 br / 2 bath double wide in a nice park which was perfect for my family at the time. I now own a fairly large home on a few acres of my own land.

Go figure.
