Sen. Edward Kennedy has malignant brain tumor : comments

oh darn

.

Jesus -- isn't there a line in the sand

with some folks? The guy has a malignant brain tumor. It's likely the prognosis is bleak. At least be decent, brother.

Not for Some People...

....MidnightToker...shame on them.

So it begins

The Con's will have fun with the suffering this guys will go thru. He has done more for the under privledged then any one else in DC. Of course being a Red State that will count as a strike against him. Before you bring up the Car accident, just remember Laura's "accident" too. She just happened to plow into a guy and kill him that was her EX-boyfriend.Coincidence? Maybe, and maybe Ted wasn't drunk the night he went into the river?

"Cons?"

From a Conservative: Praying that Senator Kennedy is able to find effective treatment and defeat this terrible disease. Also praying that his family finds peace in the matter.

now...boise49ers, in spite of your very childish assignment of "fun" in the matter for Conservative, perhaps you'll rethink such reckless, false presumptions and statements. Can you possibly admit that you're wrong?

I feel the same any type of cancer is horrible

Any type of cancer is horrible, I do not like the guy to much, but then again I do not know him personally. I did not like that he killed someone and got away with that. That goes for anyone that has killed someone.
But I do feel so sorry for what he is in for and his family.
Do not make fun of this for it is a terrible way to die.
Everyone on this board knows full well how I'm a conservative and this is just a saddening way to die for anyone. My prayers go out to him.

You Rock, terigro!

!

Ignorant comments notwithstanding...

...I wouldn't wish a brain tumor on anyone. I hope his prognosis turns out for the best, and he's able to spend some quality time with his family.

Sad news

Sen. Kennedy has served this country well for decades. The Kennedy family has given so much to this country, from President John Kennedy, his brother Bobby, and all the other generations who have worked for the good of the U.S. My heart goes out to the family. They may be rich, they may be influentual, but they have sacrificed family members to this country. In this situation, so the family and Sen. Kennedy some respect.

Remember: Mary Jo Kopechne

Chappaquiddick Chappaquiddick Chappaquiddick

Yes a fine upstanding human being...she was.

God will be his judge.

Well RobieRunner

Should we talk about John McCain and his divorce from his first wife? How he ended up with the current wife?

The disgusting hypocrisy of the Republicans- do you really need me to enumerate the Republicans that have strayed from their wives? How about just a list of those that have strayed from their wives because they really like boys?

The fact is your post shows the small mindedness of your political party. You are probably so ill-informed that you cannot discuss substantive issues, so you are reduced to the continued regurgitation of an episode that happed more than 30 years ago. It’s one thing to discuss his politics and another to engage in personal assassination attacks.

Ted Kennedy is very beloved in his state. Not to mention, he is a power broker. When your beloved President Bush wanted to push through NCLB- who did he go to? When Bush wanted to write legislation on immigration, who did he go to?

One more thing, I am quite certain he has done more service to this country than you. You RobieRunner are a punitive and vile little man.

Wow brt929

You summed that up nicely. Tx.

I guess it was too soon to remind everyone of Kennedy's past and the kind of man he 'was'. I'm sure Mary Jo's family is over their loss by now.

I do thank teddy for his endorsement of OBMAMA! He does have at least one redeeming quality; he doesn't like Hillary.

I'm sure Robie Runner

I'm sure your concern and empathy for Mary Jo's family was your motivation for the character assassination. Tell me, how close are you? Do you speak to her family on a regular basis?

Do you have that much empathy for the Douglas family, the 17-year old that Laura Bush mowed down? Send them Christmas cards?

brt929

you sound like a very empathic soul yourself. :-)

Reminding everyone of kennedy's past is hardly a character assassination.

Not at all.

Never

No

No

RobieRunner.....remember 400,000 civilian casualties in Iraq

You smack of stoopidity.

Boohoo: Unfortunately, for many Americans

"they" don't count.

Boohoo, It's "Stupidity".

You're welcome!

Senator Kennedy

...has not served this country "well." He has served effectively for a long time for far Left Wing special interest groups with money that make sufficient noise. He is the very definition of a career politician, and a Liberal one at that.

Nonetheless, and in some agreement with you, he is an American and he is a Senator, both of which deserve certain levels diplomatic discourse...but it is not anti-American to state the obvious about his politics.

I think the good people of Mass.

disagree with you occams.

The Good People?

Hmmm. At least, a simple majority of those who vote? That leaves an awful lot of people in the first place. Second, there is political inertia to the Kennedy name and the "D" status in MA. More people watch Oprah than read JAMA.

Kennedy is a politician, and in the respect of maintaining his incumbency, a very potent one.

That same old MA inertia

that got Mittster elected I presume? Are you really that dense?

Kennedy family

How do you think it feels to be a member of a family that has always been under a microscope? There are people every day who do bad things, but nothing the Kennedy family did ever escaped the media. Look at all the good people in that family. Alcohol does bad things to people, and the Kennedys aren't immune to those problems. We've had members of presidential families who have been alcoholics, and it hurts everyone. So stop condeming Sen. Kennedy. Let's see how long you could last as a senator in Washington, along with other family members - two of whom have been assinated.

Best wishes

I am NOT a fan of Senator Kennedy, but my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family during this time. My best wishes for his recovery and quality time with his family during the next years.

Man..

There are some mean-spirited and vindictive people that post on these blogs.

You Know It RiverCity...

...as much as I completely detest George W. Bush, if this news were about him, I would never make a disparaging remark about it. This is a tragedy, both for the Kennedy family and the State of Massachusettes. Senator Kennedy has given this nation a lifetime of service, and you gotta' respect that.

My Prayers are with Senator Kennedy

I don't agree with Senator Kennedy and his politics, but this is not about politics this is about a man who will be fighting for his life and that is sad. God bless!

Tumor??

Who is it that has the tumor? Ed, Ted or the Statesman???

Bless him and his family

Wow, I did not expect these types of comments. Very disappointing.

Every time I read these statesman comments I think less of human beings.

lots of people have brain tumors..

why get all concerned about HIS?

I have been trying not to ...........

......... wade in on comment section -- most of the people on here I wouldn't be caught dead talking to on the street .
They base everything on what party they are with -- the right or wrong of it really doesn't matter . BUT - as someone who has been told they have cancer and been married over 35 years to a women who has been told she has cancer , well , I really don't know how some of you people sleep at night .
You have no damn idea what it feels like looking at your doctor and hearing the word cancer come out of there mouth . The fear - confusion , and facing death is hard to explain . It's obvious that some of you haven't had to try and put your life back together after , thru no fault of your own , it's been riped from you . I guess I just don't understand how you think - if that's what you call it .
Your adults - and I am ashamed for you .

Reddog

Huh?

And this coming from the king of disrespect for other people's thoughts, feelings and personal experiences...Wow, Red, you've outdone yourself this time.

And don't worry, there aren't too many commenters here, if any, who'd care to talk to you on the street either. So, no harm, no foul.

reddog181

Very well said. I'm sorry to hear of your plight, and I sincerely wish you and your wife well. I lost my dear sweet little mother to brain cancer. Watched her suffer for 18 months. Surgeries, treatments, prescriptions, and finally the hospice people (who are truly angels.) When she was wheelchair bound, I refused to give her my dad's handgun as she had asked, because I knew what she was going to do. I'm not a religious person, but I did pray, for her sake, that she would pass. I've never been a Kennedy fan, but I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Even those callous people with their derogotory posts. Best of luck my friend.

How do I sleep an night?

with a loaded .45 under my pillow. How about you?

Reddawg

I have been reading this forum for a long long time and can't believe you are being judgemental about other people's opinions. You have been hateful, mean, and very outspoken about how you hate conservatives, republicans, or anyone else different than yourself. If I remember correctly, there were times you wished ill-harm to some of those people who disagreed with you. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen or.......go back in your dawghouse.

Hmmmm...

I left a message earlier today wishing reddog and family well, and for some strange reason it has never shown up. Sorry, 'dog, I think maybe someone at the Statesman has it out for you!

No Respecter

Just goes to show that human diseases are no respecter of any class of people. The rich, privileged, silver spooned, poor, middle class, blue collar, white collar, homeless, well to do alike...none are immune.

Inherited wealth can buy a lot of things, but it certainly can't buy health and a clear conscience!

While an avid anti Kennedy fan I certainly don't wish brain cancer on anybody and wish him well in his life's latest challenge.

Couldn't have said it better Reddog...

Yomma is proof positive that we have stopped being a nation of compassion for our fellow American, to an uncaring, I got mine, gotch ya, get out of my way, my SUV is bigger than yours populace.
As my Grandmother said, ‘If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anyhing at all’. And for the record, I watched this caring, gentle, loveing woman be brave up the end as she was eaten up by cancer. I had asked why but only could hope that God wanted her more and her work was done here.
Politics, ethnicity, religion should never play into our feelings towards a suffering human being. Is this what we have become a nation of? Either you are with us or against us? Please keep your rancid rants off the site and in your home where they belong. Poison your own air, not mine.

Backwards

You got it backwards hayseed. This is a public forum. The good thing about it is you don't have to participate in the poison...you can stay off the site and in your home where apparantly the air has been purified.

True, this is a public forum...

where people can espouse their ignorance. I never said my home has purified air, but keep talking because my garden really enjoys your CO2 and hot air. Gotta leave for now but will be back to monitor.

And the Idaho Statesman is

And the Idaho Statesman is not required "by law" to accept posts like yours and others either. Appears as though you are quite capable of dishing it out, but don't receive too well.

No, really...

I can and have received quite well, whatever it is. My first post simply said that we have lost compassion as a nation. I think the posts that followed proved my point.

well said Red

I've been there too. Hope alls well for the Kennedy family.

Go to a forum

under a article about Cheney after his heart issues. The hate and venom and the wishes for a slow and painful death for him abound. The idea that only one side is guilty of this is a bit of a stretch.

so if one of us gets a brain tumor...

will we get put on the news and get oohd and ahd over? nope..well get screwed over by the medical system because we aren't rich and/or famous..

Kennedy has the same health insurance as Crapo

And Craig, Sali, Simpson. Excellent insurance provided to them by the U.S. taxpayer.

The same that universal health coverage would bring to all of us.

LOL

That's a good one zeke. Oh man that's a good one.

On a serious note. I hope Mr Kennedy and his family pull through this. I have been through deaths from cancer in my own family and this disease is terrible and would not wish this on anyone.

What?

And who exactly will be paying for this fine universal health coverage that so coddles our elected representatives? The tooth fairy? It's one thing to pay for a few thousand (over the years) legislators' health care. It is a completely different prospect when you're talking about 300 million plus people that want to suck at the public teat. Our experience with Medicare, Welfare, and every other government subsidy program ought to tell us that.

The health care system will have two options under a universal health care model. It can either fall in on itself, leaving everybody who needs it with only a glimmer of hope that they'll ever see a doctor. Or, it can become a socialized system, where we get the privilege of waiting three years (or more) for surgery. Unless of course, you're in the ruling class, where you can pull the right strings and pay the right people to save yourself.

Universal health coverage? Please.

So your degree

wasn't in Economics, was it college boy?

Jester

Of course Jesters were less than any class and were treated like dogs. Uneducated and a mere playthings for kings. Fitting.
