Is there a real Presidential candidate out there?
Submitted by Viper_210 on Sat, 04/26/2008 - 10:20pm.
After listening carefully to the three remaining Presidential candidates, is there anyone worth voting for? Hillary Clinton is a communist, Barrack Obama is a radical, anti-american socialist, and John McCain doesn't understand the fight that he's in for with liberal's, all to try and run a "civil" campaign which the democrats have no idea how to run.
I have never heard so many distortions of fact, and out right lies in my life coming from individuals who want to be the Leader of our country. I have yet to hear one candidate step forward with a message of hope and a positive vision for the future of our country. I hear "change you can believe in" and "hope for America" without a clear concise picture of what that change and hope will be.
Hillary Clinton continues to prove herself to be a professional liar with delusions of grandeur, Barrack Obama is short sighted and continues to associate with people who hate America, John McCain is attempting to be civil but seems to have forgotten how to fight on the campaign trail against an opponent that have no idea how to be civil; plus none of them are willing to listen to the American people as to the serious issues facing this country.
I could care less about health care, abortion, and gay rights when stacked up against border security, the economy, taxes, and fighting the war on terror.
This is my feeling about the current Presidential race, what's your opinion.

Then you should forget about voting.
Nobody is going to retreat.
I agree
I'm not politically savvy, but I've been looking at each candidate and trying to be objective (the media DOES NOT help matters) and I don't like what I see either. No wonder voters have been sluggish at the polls since Reagan. We need somebody worth standing in line for, haha.
Maybe in 2012
I think we're going to have to wait until 2012 before we can find a better candidate. Right now, I think the democrats should either conceed the election and start planning for 2012 because they have two of the most radical, lying, hate america candidates I've ever seen which makes them unelectable.
Here's a question for you to consider; "if" obama is elected President, how can he take the oath of office as President, which states, that he will "defend this nation against all enemies both foreign and domestic" and still continue to maintain a "friendly relationship" with an admitted terrorist named william Ayrs which is in direct violation of the oath of office he sword to?
Interesting dilemma.
Later days,
Viper
Will the Real Slim Senator...
please stand up?
please stand up?
Please stand up?
You could care less about
health care, abortion, and gay rights? Bully for you. Some of us don't share your view. Welcome to America.
I think FO has it right. You just stay home come votin' day. Since nobody apparently holds a candle to your dream candidate, (who is...Dumbya? Nixon? Ronald Raygun?) no point to messin' up your beautiful mind with a pesky thing like voting.
Coultergiest comes out to play
Coultergiest! Nice to know your still around and can come out and play. Right now, I intend to vote for John McCain; not because I believe he's the best candidate, which I don't, but because he's the only one of the three that has a clue about what it means to hold the office of the President of the United States. He's the only one left that has a clue about what it means to represent the people of this nation, and what it takes to defend this nation and keep us safe.
In my opinion, Rudy, Milt, or Mike would have been a far better choice for President than John McCain, but that's not how the race to be the Republican Candidate for President turned out; so I'm voting for the only candidate left that comes close to what I believe.
Take care,
Viper
Oh, I've been here,
just can't seem to interest anyone else in playing.
Viper, what makes you think McCain has any insight into what being the President means? I'd say the candidate who is actually married to a 2 term President probably has a wee bit more practical insight about what it takes to be President than does McCain. What exactly is it about him that leads you to believe he would represent the people of this nation any better than George W Bush does? What part of his campaign platform causes you to believe he has any better ideas for defending the country than the other 2 candidates?
Not trying to be contentious (that'll come later >g< ),I'm just interested in why anyone in their right mind would want to go with him. As for Rudy, Milt or Mike...Rudy?!! Are you kidding me?!! Viper, what the heck are you thinking? What makes Rudy more attractive to you than McCain?
Came to me today...
Barack Obama resembles Woodrow Wilson A LOT.
Without the glasses, of course.
George dubya represented the people of this nation?
So you believe George dubya represent the people of this nation? He maybe represented the top 10% wealthiest portion of the minority of people that voted for him. I believe he represents the Saudi's and thier interests in this country much better.
Whom have you addressed the preceeding question to?
I'm not certain the OP even said anything about supporting Bush, only a concern that he would have to wait until 2012 to be satisfied with candidates.
You may have gotten ahead of the conversation and WORSE...started to throw invective at commentary that is already on your side?
Thanks for writing. Only troll if you're humorous!
Why I'm voting for McCain
Well Colergiest it's like this. I vote because it's my responsibility as an American Citizen to do so. If I chose not to vote, then what gives me the right to question the leaders others have chosen for me?
I'm voting for McCain because I don't like the answers and positions that Hillary or Obama have taken on important issues such as health care, border security, and the war on terror.
As far as Hillary being the best choice for President, you have got to be kidding. If she can't tell the truth about her visit to Bosnia, know that one of her "advisers" is a 15 year convicted felon wanted by the FBI, how can we trust her as President.
As far as Obama goes, he's a joke.
Later days,
Viper
But you don't
answer the question...what is it about McCain that makes you want him for your President? Reading your above post, it appears you're doing the lesser of 3 evils selection process. All I hear when he talks is George Bush...like we need one more minute of THAT joke leading our country.
I could give a windy fluffy-foo about Hillary exaggerating the perils of one of her many foreign diplomatic trips. What I DO care about is her ability to stand up to the rightwing juggernaut which threatens to destroy our nation. And she's proven her ability to do just that. In addition, her championing of health care and children's issues has not strayed from the speech she gave at her graduation from University. She's the real deal, I admire her very much, and I hope she's our VP.
Barak is still an unknown,IMO, still untested, without Hillary's benefit of trial by fire. I embrace the concept of change he touts, but am realistic enough to know that just because one politician calls for change, it doesn't mean the rest of 'em are gonna roll over and play nice. In addition, I think there's a real danger that Barak will be an assassination target, particularly in this new environement of whipped up fury over illegal aliens, terrorists, and all manner of swarthy-complected dangers we're told we face today. Having said that, Obama is the presumptive Democratic nominee for Prez, and I'll get behind him at the polls...but he'll have 100% of my loyalty if he does the right thing and asks Hillary to be his running mate.
Viper, we aren't electing a president at all...
It's a worldwide reality show. You must not have read the TV guide.
Screeeeeem!
You're exactly right!
Gads we're a bunch of simpering fools, aren't we? We really do deserve what we get.
Flavor Flav for President, anyone?
Viper, Coultergeist
Hey Viper,
Apparently you and I must share some pretty strong views and a knack for abrasively (more like convincingly) sharing them with other. I haven't been on here in quite a while but I used to be accused of being you (well at least twice).
Anyway, getting to the point. There's a fantastic website at www.knowyourrino.com. There's a link somewhere on there to a page that shows the percentage of votes our candidates have cast that were in-line with the Constitution of this great Constitutional-Republic. Clinton was 10%, Obama was a big fat ZERO, and McCain had a pretty sad showing.
I think voting for any of them is bad. Bad, bad, bad. Obama will only bring socialism, and further over-extension of federal powers. McCain will only bring further national debt and continue the unconstitutional wars.
I had considered consciously NOT voting in protest of all the candidates, but I cannot do that either. I will write in probably Ron Paul's name, or Alan Keys, or some other conservative candidate.
I agree with foreignoregonian, this is a bad reality TV show. The whole thing is a joke. McCain might be the best major candidate, but he's not the best man for the job. If we REALLY want to do the right thing, we'll vote for the best person - whether they're on the ballot or not.
I heart socialism.
You know, the caring for the least of our society's members. Don't understand why it seems to carry so much negative baggage, except the rightwing nutz have made it a fashionable epithet. It's the new "commie pinko" don't ya know?
Socialism
Socialism limits freedom. That's the bottom line.
I cannot imagine how the government is the best manager of MY income. I agree that we should be taking care of the least of society's members, but I don't think that it's the government's responsibility.
I think you and I have had this discussion before.
You say that
we should be taking care of the least of our brothers, yet very obviously that hasn't happened without government intervention.
I think the government does a pretty good job of assisting its needy people. You don't want to kick any money into the tax kitty, there's an easy way to get around it. Put your money where your mouth is.
Charitable donations are tax deductible.
Your dilemma is solved.
PS: If we've had this discussion before, perhaps you didn't remember the part about the government, far from being some shady boogie man, is actually us?
Wow, I'm hardly ever on here anymore.
And this is now an old discussion.
Anyway, yes, the government is... us... kinda. It's us plus special interest groups, plus whoever seems to speak loudest, carry a big stick, or has boat loads of money (or politicians) in their pocket.
Government was created BY us FOR us. It was originally created to guarantee the basic rights that every man, woman, and child born with. We extend our power to government. The government, therefore, should not have any power which we as individuals have not ourselves. I cannot force you out of your house because I think someone has greater need of it. Likewise, it's not government's place to take our money and give it to anyone else. It's exactly this sort of thing that has opened up all sorts of corruptions, special interest groups, and clammoring for the favor of the "government." Governments are born of the people to guarantee the rights and privileges of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness. By PLUNDERING your money, they are plundering your property instead of guaranteeing it.
I believe that if the government ceased to give aid to people with legitimate need, society would step up and offer their assistance as it was needed. Just look what has happened here in the valley since the fires a few days ago. Tragic, yes, but inspiring in the way people have responded. Believe in people.
And go check out Frederic Bastiat's The Law. It was written in the 18th century in response to people wondering why France had so many revloutions. It also addresses this topic quite well in just 75 or so pages.
I heard a lot of people in Idaho voted for Walt Dizzy's Crue...
Mostly the Mickster himself.
remember that I told you somewhere last month that Obama looks a lot like Woodrow Wilson?
HE DOES
By the way...
DONALD DUCK!
Donald "Duck" Dunn, who has played with the best including the Doobie Brothers.
No president has ever lied before?
Maybe this is why Hillary lies, it's what politicians & Presidents do. As far as Obama
negotiating with the enemy, we'd be at war with the entire world if we never negotiated some where, some time. Would Great Britain or many of the other nations that stand with America in Iraq & Afghanistan be there if we never mended fences? We'd still be having a Revolution with England if Bush & McCain are not about negotiation. Russia, Vietnam, & any number of nations would be our enemies forever.
When Bush or McCain is shaking hands with the leader of any nation, if that nation has ever been in clonflcit with US, can they trust US & the man they're shaking hands with?
Is there a good choice for President? Can't remember the last time we had a good choice, America's been split close to 50/50 in many of the last elections. I don't think we're electing the man or woman so much as we are the money investing in them or the party. These candidates all raise millions of $ for their campaigns while on our payroll & we don't have money for infrastructure, schools, health care, & a list perpetueal. Contributors give to both parties, would rather have one than the other but bet on both ponies in a two horse race. They can't lose & we can't win. Then we go to war promoting democracy & send We the People to war while corporations reap the spoils. That's why I suggest full finacial disclosure by our representatives.
Some suggest it's ok, most who do are die hard party making it obvious the party comes before country. It's working the way it's suppose to? If so, why is America in the current state she is? If this is by design, I believe we need to make some adjustments. Isn't that what you do when a problem arises? Go back to the drawing board & fix it or do you continue with a flawed product & band aid fixes which always come back to haunt US in time & $. When a tire manufacturer is faced with a tire failing on millions of cars do they recall & fix the problem or keep selling it, hoping the problem will fix itself? Government steps in to hold people responsible but when is government held responsible? A whistleblower points out a problem, government goes on the defensive, cover up, lie, & deny. Good example for the people who pay for it? How many people or corporations get caught up in court, never admit guilt but pay? Why do people do the same? America has become a country controlled by a system build on lies. Money dictates innocence or guilt & everything in between.
With a presidential election every four years, the last two perfect examples of democracy not all it's cracked up to be. Do we need to address the problems of corporate unAmerica, campaign finance, & the two party system being more important/first, America on the back burner?
Some, due to part party loyalty suggest America is running smooth & politics working just as designed. It's not a perfect world, perfect political process, but to continue on the same course, year in & year out? Fighting between the two parties while America & the people lose, lose focus, lose interest, lose jobs, lose family in war, perspective,& just keep losing! When are the two parties going to do what's best for America & not their respective party? When is America going to be represented by more than words by politicians in the pocket of corporate influence? As long as corporate money keeps rolling in the people will never have representation. Does the constitution say we the people, we the party, or we the corporation? Doesn't matter what a candidate says before elected, the money that put him or her in office will be doing the talking when they get elected. Anybody can say I'm all about America but when the candidates for President have all this $, outside influence clouding their vision, it's clouding our vision.
It doesn't matter where we fight terrorist, they will always have their best weapon, best ally, in DC, in America through corporate unAmerica, campaign finance & the two party system putting America & We the People in harm's way. Terrorist don't have to come to America with WMD, we have politicians implanting the fear of terrorist & WMD in our hearts & souls from the day we're born. Through words, everyday actions, schools, taxes, war, propaganda, fear, & war mongering to self serve, the two parties provide contributors, corporate unAmerica, a return in their investment.
Sock it to ME?

I may be a little abrasive in my opinions, but I want to present some common sense approaches to issues instead of blind retortic and failed idealogy like the "change" that Barrack Obama is offering the American People.
What I'm refering to is people that push the philosophy of socialism and communism that has been proven by history, that their ideas don't work, and have been nothing but abject failures where ever they've been tried.
All you have to do is examine the countries and governments of the former USSR, former East Germany, Cuba, China, the balklin nations, current day Russia, etc to see the standard of living of their subjects, versus the standard of living of the citizens of the United States, to see that socialism and communism are philosophies for losers and lazy people who don't want to work for a living. These people seem to believe they are somehow "entitled" to a living without working for it, and the government should pay for it.
I believe that this is how our schools and colleges have distorted what the declaration of independance says about our individual right "To Life, Liberty, and the pursue of Happiness". Liberals seem to think that means as granted by a government program.
Later days, and stay cool!
Viper
Long haul, or nice vacation, Viper?
: )
The problem with social diseases.
Social Security was working fine until our representatives decided there was enough money to help pay for their failures. Public school isn't social? If taking $ from homeowners with no kids, to operate schools isn't social, what is? Taxes aren't social? We're taxed on everything we do, eat, buy, & breath.
Think you aren't taxed on the air you breath? Today's paper suggests cattle/methane gas produced by millions of cows in Idaho has a lot to do with problems related to greenhouse gases, air pollution, & water. Our representatives never gave a dime of our tax $ to the dairy industry or agriculture? Breath deep, enjoy that county freshness.
I grew up around dairy, dad drove truck for a creamery for 17 years, I milked 50 cows twice a day, & drove truck for dairy here in Idaho. How much is a gallon of milk today? How many family farmers quit milking, bought out with our tax $? Our representatives paid farmers with 25 cows dairy operations to quit milking because there was too much milk & somehow that shortage created the need for 30,000 cow dairies? Campaign finance.
Communism & socialism are no different than any other government that takes advantage of the working class. Sounds like democracy is going to be on the list soon. Oh yea, we're a republic. Spin it. I laugh when I hear people say our government is working fine, has for over two hundred years. Two hundred years, oh boy, that's a long time. We don't even realize the damage our gvernment has done until years after the fact.
Bush claims we can't negotiate with our enemies yet is holding hands with every leader of every country we ever went to war with? Wasn't Bush in the paper with one of Germanies leaders just yeasterday? Seems like we were in a litle war with Germany one time. No trade with Japan or Vietnam? The cost oil isn't directly related with Asian countires needing more oil to run their country on manufacturing, once US jobs?
How many Americans who managed to live through Vietnam, have any idea as to what happened? Most of them didn't know when they were there & didn't care, they were counting days. Fighting communism, that's a hoot. Financing communism is more like it. How many weapons bought from communist countries, how many billions of dollars were paid to communist countries for those weapons, driving their economy while we spent billions & 58K Americans died in front of the same weapons? After we left, what great benefit did communism get from having Vietnam? All communism got out of Vietnam was bragging rights, kicked our political rear, & killed true Americans sent to war by fools, politicians. Then we trun around with free trade & promote Asian countires with Americans jobs so they need more oil which is now costing US a fortune.
Want to bring the price of oil down, dump free trade. Let all those countries watch their jobs disappear along will the need for oil. Our government has been doing a bang up job of killing our economy with free trade, how about we turn it around? The demand for oil will go down in countries like China who put a million cars on the road every year due to jobs we used to have. Less production in those countries, less need for oil, making oil a better buy for Americans with their old jobs back. So what if we have to pay more for products made by Americans? Rather pay $6 or $7 a gallon for gas while earning $8 an hour buying products made in China coated with lead paint or $3 a gallon for gas while earning $12 or $14 an hour, & pay for products made in the US, hopefully with no lead paint.
I want to believe our government can do better on the lead paint but we still have corporate unAmerica buying our representation through campaign finance? Don't forget the tomatoes, E Coli, illegal immigration, & health care costs. Agri corruption has it's share of our representatives in pocket as well. I'm reasonably sure our democracy is going to be in the company of socialism & communism in a hundred years or so, after our representative make bank selling US out. Crooked politicians are in every corner of the world, US included. Let's see the numbers, the Bush family oil profits, & the money trail the rest of our illustrious representative's of millionaire status leave trailing them to the bank. Then tell me how great demcracy is working.
Doesn't matter which politician we vote into office, the system is corrupt, & we're going to suffer the same mismanagement the next four years as we did the last eight.
Band aid fixes don't work, the next election isn't going to change squat.
It's all good, bro
Apparently I'm abrasive too. That's why I've been accused of being you several times. :)
$657 ~ a month sorta works...
if you're bipolar and determined and tired of wasting time and do it anyway.
WE ARE IN FOR A LONG RIDE FOLKS
Vote for McCain and we have four more years of George Bush
Vote for Obama and anything can happen. Personally I don't think he is qualifide to be President of a large corporation let alone President of the United States.
I am thinking of voting for Bob Barr.
