The New York Times' report about John McCain
Submitted by scassinelli on Fri, 02/22/2008 - 9:33pm.
The New York Times published a report suggesting that John McCain had an inappropriate relationship with a female lobbyist and advanced the interests of her clients. McCain emphatically denied the report. What do you think? Do you think the coverage was fair?

It he got it...
maybe it was more than fair.
Then again, if you were a 70 year old man who lived in a cage instead or getting drunk and meeting new girls in Da Nang, you'd understand.
Perceptions
Unfortunately in this day and age the media still gloms onto any negative situation in regards to a political candidate. In the cases where such actions are indeed truth, the situation is blown into a megawatt story complete with Enquirer style shock value. It is in my opinion unfortunate for anyone who was wrongly accused, as one small scandal can ruin a person's reputation and credibility. I can't say for sure if McCain is guilty of an inappropriate relationship, because how can I if I don't know him personally and the only "proof" I get is through the media? What is an inappropriate relationship? Daily lunches? Walks in the park? Quiet conversation in a corner? If people perceive someone to be too controversial to run for an office, it takes a lot of work and good behavior to prove them otherwise.
It boils down to drive by media bias.
Connemara, Your making a good point about the drive by media. I don't trust the drive by media because 90% of them are liberals that want to see our country fail miserably in just about any area and issue you can pick. Look at what the current democratic Presidential Candidates are offering the American People; I don't heard them talking about a better future for our country, and it's continuing to be echoed by the drive by's.
President's John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan in just about ever speech they made when they were running for office, spoke about a better future for our country, they spoke with courage and conviction, they inspirer us as individuals and as a nation. I don't hear any of that from any of the Presidential Candidates including John McCain.
John McCain is head and shoulders above any of the democratic candidates, and I have problems with him and his record about the issues facing our country, however Obama and Hillary would be a monumental disasters.
Is media bias more or less than chrome bias?
Who is John McCain?
