I remember which party did not respond sufficiently to the attack on the USS Cole (10/12/00) and the first attack on the WTC (2/26/93).
Attacking a US Navy ship is the equivalent of attacking US soil. Perhaps you can revisit your history book to see what previous presidents did in similar situations.
If the demos had responded when it was their watch, perhaps things would be different. Perhaps Saddam would have met the UN resolutions and al-Qaeda and Iraq would not have created the condition that required action by the US. Probably not, but you can dream about your Clinton heros.

Geez, thank you for your sincere concern and your insight on this matter. I certainly hope that more people like you come to our obviously backward state where people still actually have rights and (attempt to) support the Constitution of the United States of America so we can change all that! God forbid... oops, that's not PC... Evolution forbid people retain the rights to their property, income, and right to the pursuit of happiness!

You are exactly the reason America can't get along. Everyone (sorry for the generalization as it might offend you) is so intent on what's in it for themselves that they don't give a hoot what is best for the country, state, economy.
People still do retain the rights to their property, income, and pursuit of happiness, but if something isn't done about the way this country is governed, all of that will be gone. If people don't show that they care MORE about the well-being of their lives than they do about Larry Craig or guns or football then all of the luxury of owning land, receiving income, and finding happiness will vanish.

But all the Liberals are a bunch of sheep and need Big Brother to look out for them. "Guns" or the 2nd ammendmant is one of the more important ammendmants in the Bill of Rights. Thats why we are always so adimate about keepng that right.

I didn't say that the government needs more control over our rights. I do however think that the way things work in DC need to be changed. It doesn't seem to be working for our country.

Maybe I jumped the gun
So it's obvious I jumped the gun on the last post ("too much caffeine at such a late hour" will be my scapegoat). I think we can agree that we need some changes. Bush, Sali, Craig, Crapo, etc. are prime examples of poor leadership. They are bought-and-paid-for politicians.
As a true conservative, I've dumped the GOP. They are no more conservative than the democrats are. They're just 20 years behind the dems in policy and procedure.
And sadly, the change we need will not come from the "progressive" dems either. Their "progressive" plans for our country will inevitably progress to nothing more than socialism and the break-down of our rights and freedoms.
Who understands the Constitution? Any politician that could explain the proper role of government would be a rare find indeed. We are in dire straights here. We need people with integrity. We need to get rid of all the politicians who are in the back pocket of lobbyists and special interest groups. We must restore the government to it's original intended course, and dissect the current system. It would be a painful process, but it's necessary if we want to avoid a collapse of monumental proportions.

There's nothing wrong with guns or football!! Of course that's all we care about. What else is there to do in this state? Don't blame the entire state just cause the majority hopelessly votes republican every election. Not like the Democrats are much of a step up. If it were up to me there would be like 5-6 strong political parties as opposed to just 2. How ridiculous is that? Why is it that we really only have 2 strong political parties? Isn't this a democracy? I can't sit here and actually believe that people only think left or right. There are tons of different options in life so why does it only come down to just mainly two choices on the ballot? Are americans that lazy and irresponsible with thier "responsibility" to vote that we have subjected ourselves with the choice of ultimately the lesser of two evils? It's time for a reform in our political system starting with the foundation. We need to create more options and make voting more accessible to everyone. When it comes down to having to watch the presidential race come down to Hillary Clinton and whichever Republican has to suffer after the Bush debacle, I'm not voting. Those aren't choices. Those are more like getting a jail sentence. I'd rather live in Canada or Europe than go through what they are going to put us through.

I agree. No one can only think left or right. The world isn't black and white. It's grey. Don't get me wrong I love guns and football too... but it's not the only thing I'm focused on. There are many other needs this city should look into - Roads, immigration, growth, good representation in the government we do have. Although I agree it needs to be reformed.

Just curious. Your opening volley accuses Idaho of being the times (5 years to be exact). And suggest the state citizens (natives implied I guess) need to get on track with the world and make a difference. Apparently, improving college football, protecting our right to bare arms, and highlighting gay rights is not enough for you.
Leadership by example is always good. I thought perhaps you can lead us Idaho-slackers in the right direction by telling us about your good example of making a differnce.

As a native daughter of Idaho, I have always been proud of the people who served in Congress. Larry Craig is a different story. After watching him on TV last night, I am embarassed for the state.

Let's not knock BSU football. Everyone needs an escape from the rigors of regular life. If that means rallying behind a sports team, I'm all for it.
But 'tis true that we are in dire straights here in the US. Our Constitution is pretty much a thing of the past. Our Commander-in-Chief is a marionette for Big Money. We are on the verge of revolution, that's a guarantee. Democractic Republics don't have a long shelf-life and we've exceeded ours. It's time to get back to our roots.

While it was weird to see Senator Craig at that function, he is still a senator and likely not to be disturbed (by the others, silly) for the rest of that term to preserve whatever sanctity, dignity and shot at offices other Republicans have in a number of races in November. In effect, a lame duck political lynching. There are dozens of other important issues that managed to overshadow it, including even the public's perception of the entertainment journalism simply imploding along with Britney and Anna Nicole etc.
Even the presidential administration did their job to step up and and help most forget.
A bridge collapsed and killed a lot of people. Everything in sight had lead in it or something and got recalled. At least sales or goats and ropes didn't increase, unless you were try to racially harrass people or had a big BBQ after the satanic mass.
Okay that IS kinda out there and I don't have demographics (the other D word of course) for satanic ritual supply sales so it's a weird joke. The nice thing about a brain is that YOU don't have to RECALL EVERYTHING!

it was gay when i was a kid when they had mullets and its gay now. Those guys and girls are just a bunch of juiced up freaks. The big body building guys, although they may look tough, are some of the biggest pussies around. If you want to see true gladiators, start watching some MMA fights. Nothing like seeing guys battling in the UFC, PRIDE FC and other smaller national and local competitions. Its a very addicting sport to watch.
