Thank you again
Submitted by Connemara on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 7:47am.
I just want to say Thank You to any one who was ever in the military, past and present. Even if all you did was hold down a desk job. You still had to conform to rules and regulations that would make anyone else chafe and run to the Human Resources department to complain. Many of you don't make enough money to get by, even with free food and housing, and you are expected to leave everything you know at a moment's notice and go to a place where Americans are shot on sight. No, that doesn't make sense to me either, yet here we are and some lawmakers actually condone this. I've heard there are now agencies that are trying to help veterans and their families, and that is awesome. Still, we as "patriotic" Americans are missing the point. We should all be thanking you every day, even if we do not support war. We should be ignoring the plight of Britney and OJ and turning our efforts to helping these people who voluntarily go to fight for our rights. I don't want to hear that it was "their choice, so deal with it" either. What if one day, it isn't? Then what will you say? And does anyone CHOOSE to get shot? Come on. At least these soldiers have the guts to go do what we won't. They actually care about their country. Let's show them we do too and thank them when they get home.
