overcharging. They always get their money back! The lizard people like others, come out with low rates which might be in line with reality but then they don't pay the claims which is also in the article! You're paying too much or if the price is right they don't pay claims.

That is fraud! If they don't pay claims it comes back around to the guy paying too much already because he now pays for damage done by the lizard people who don't pay claims plus his insurance which is too high.

The insurance industry doesn't police itself just like our misrepresentatives don't police themselves. Remember when Noble was about to be run out of as one of Idaho's State Legislators? The others were saying it isn't up to them to police themselves. That to me is an admission of guilt & or lack of responsibility that goes with the job. They are shirking their responsibility, I suspect for good reason, they wouldn't want to start turning on each other or they would all be out.

There is another idea to come up with $ for roads. If insurance companies are overcharging & not paying claims? Pass a law that takes a small percentage from premiums & spend it on roads! Have at it, BSali, take it to DC & get something done for the taxpayers who don't contribute but DO pay your wages, health care, & retirment.

Are you trying to penalize individual insurance companies as they are found in violation or slap an across the board charge on all to compensate for potential fraudulent and other illegal activities?

It's a well established fact that the proper way to address corporate fraud is through the justice system. Courts decide negligence, malfeasance and fraud issues and render judgements against defendants. The states have agencies that enforce laws by referring them to the courts. It is not the state that sentences and penalizes, it is the courts that proscribe judgment for the state to execute under it's codes and jurisdiction. The federal government may have presidence over the state's authority therefore as a matter or legal reality the state may place sanctions, taxes or surcharges but only on the guilty and if higher laws do not restrict, preclude or prohibit such penalties. In the broadest sense then sanctioning all members of an industry for the actions of a few or the perceived malice of the unknown represents unfair and illegal practice for the state and there is a lot to prove, all falling on the state.

If that isn't reminding you of 9/11 world right now, it should. That's how Bush got so wacky to start with. It's a dangerous prospect and once you eat the first chip, you have a hard time putting the bag down.

When a corporation is mismanaged into bankruptcy they file for bankruptcy protection & in may cases don't pay the people they owe. Is that what we're going to do? Since many people from other nations won't take the dollar, it is a good indication that it is worthless or soon will be.

You say the kid claimed he had witnesses, and then you say the cops won't issue a ticket because there weren't any witnesses? Which is it? And I'm sorry to have to say it, but your physically threatening the kid speaks loudly about self-control issues. The kid wasn't obligated to show you his ID, since you're not a cop. I wouldn't have shown you my driver's license either, since you could have gotten my address from it and showed up at my house later to shoot me. You took umbrage where none was warranted. And I don't care how smart-mouthed he was to you, you acted inappropriately. Sounds to me like you reacted badly to an accident. Unless you think he intended to hit you? I doubt it...the fact that he was a bad driver and maneuvered illegally makes him more culpable than you, but it was still an accident. I've never understood people who get out of their damaged vehicles and start raging at each other.

The manner in which Geico determined liability isn't Geico's fault. It's up to the insurance companies to determine what percentage of the fault is yours, and what percentage is the other insured motorist's. It's a bummer, but they determined you had some culpability, and so you gotta live with it. I just had my own accident last Saturday. It was determined the other driver was 100% at fault. My car was totaled, and Geico gave me a check in 2 days for more than Blue Book value, since it had exceptionally low miles on it. The kid who hit me didn't show me his D.L. or insurance card either...he wrote down his DL number, and his insurance policy # and I didn't chase him and scream that he could have been lying. In fact, we hugged each other and said how glad we were neither of us was seriously hurt. I'm quite satisfied with the handling of the whole incident. I'm sorry your experience wasn't better.

But, I hear and feel your pain when it comes to the corporate rule of America. Did you happen to catch Bill Maher last night? They were discussing why more Americans weren't polling for Edwards, when his clear message is that we've got to do something to rein in these tyrants. One of the guests said it was because the media is corporate controlled, thus won't give Edwards equal air time, which is a good answer. But another guest said NO, that's not it. Americans aren't stupid...they know that corporations will do whatever it takes to maintain their investor profits, and if that means laying off workers, so be it. Americans aren't willing to risk losing their jobs in order to gain some power over corporations. Are you? Seems to me we're in a no-win situation here, unless we're prepared to sacrifice big time.

It's the doctrine of "last clear chance." You hit his bumper, and they believe you could have avoided the accident. (I'm not saying I agree with this, but because you hit his rear, ALL insurance companies pull this- not just GEICO.)

I was a Commercial Insurance underwriter for 15 years, when I moved to Boise. One of the reasons I'm happy to be out of that line of work, because the companies operate differently here, and they get away with it. When I threatened one adjuster that I was going to file a Bad Faith claim with the insurance commissioner, he pretty much laughed at me.

The insurance commissioner here is not elected, and he/she is a Governor appointee- which means he is not working on behalf of the public, he is working for the insurance companies. I strongly doubt you will get satisfaction. (Frankly, I'm not sure there is an insurance commissioner- check out the web page- no one's name appears.)

Greyghost, you are railing at the wrong people- the insurance company wants to maximize profits, and they will do whatever is necessary. If you are angry, its this farm mentality in the legislature that needs to be addressed. They write the statutes. Insurance companies love this state, they can walk all over their customers, and they answer to no one. Most people do not have the money to challenge them in court.

Make your complaint to the Insurance Commissioner, but in the end, you will probably have to let it go. Believe me a dented fender is not worth an ulcer.

You are right, it won't do any good & that is why I never did anything about it at the time. Right again in the farm mentality & misrepresentation. That is what I'm after more so than crooked insurance because it would curb crooked insrance.

All we need is people like skid marks to run interference so they can continue the scam. The original post was to point out claims not paid by insurance companies. Companies which have millions to contribute to politicians, pay for commercials, pay lobbyist, & influence our representation. They manipulate the price of premiums with all the above & don't pay claims. I wrote of something that happened & skid marks, for whatever reason attacked with lies.

All the kid had to do was lie & it was my fault because he was tapped in the rear bumper? The lizard people wanted all they could get out of me when it was my fault based on the lies told by a kid influenced through American society. When the truth came out they turned it around to pay 60% & while admitting it was their insured who was at fault. Admitting fault should have sealed it.

Everything in America is a manipulation anymore & we all pay for it one way or another. We're all paying for the lack of credibility by the Bush's, skid mark's of America. America might get some respect back if we hold people like this accountable. If they were man enough to admit when they are wrong & listen to others, proper english aside, it would be a good start.
