I read an article in the Statesman all about a few hundred thousand $ they need for a detox center. If you are going to call it a detox center & put drunks to bed for 24 or 48 hours, let alcohol pay for it. If drugs are the problem let drugs & the fines pay for it.

Alcohol companies & the businesses involved in sales of alcohol contribute to representatives & get tax cuts in return. The liquor commission brags about all the tax $ brought in through alcohol. Use that $ & campaign contributions to pay for the detox center.

There are all kinds of statistics on alcohol related deaths & costs. Let the billions made on sales pay for the damage done. MADD has a site that claims half a million people dead since 1982 in auto/alcohol related accidents. 3,000 die in 9/11 & we have been in war for years, costing billions if not trillions not to mention more US soldiers? Why are a few thousand worth a war costing trillions when a half million are just a statistic costing US taxpayers & not the people who profit from it?

Half a million die from alcohol, add in all the other costs & people cry about the price of a beer or a million for detox? How many billion does it cost the taxpayers? Jerk behind the bar need to be certified just like having a concealed wepon permit or registering as a contractor. How about a $500 certification for every bartender? They are no different than a drug dealer, it's all about the $ in their pocket. Bartenders claim it isn't their responsibility if someone drinks too much & they serve it up? Bull crap! They call the law when someone gets out of hand after they overserve? They bring it on then call the police & cry about the price of beer when they drink for free + tips. Something wrong with that picture. Profit at your expense in more ways than your realize.

Acohol companies advertise, drink responibly, that's a hoot. They can afford to advertise & contribute, they can afford to pay for a detox center.

If contributions are good enough for Larry Craig's personal legal fees than use contributions from alcohol companies to pay for a detox center. Why would anybody argue about that? Would you rather pay higher property taxes? You quit drinking in 1992, why would you care if alcohol is taxed as long as your property tax doesn't go up? You're going to pay for that drunk tank if you don't get a clue & the people making billions are going to laugh all the way to the bank.

With all the editorials about property taxes I would think people would catch on & hold those making all the money responsible. Take it to your representaives, call Otter. He wants to raise auto registration fees. Tell him to use campaign contributions like Craig does before he uses the money on his next DUI. I've had my fill watching people get rich while I pay the taxes they evade through campaign finance. It isn't rocket science, well maybe in Idaho.

Lynnwood WA, Man held after crash has had 15 DUI arrests, five convictions & Drunk driver slams into a minivan killing five, driving north on southbound I280 in Ohio. Do the taxes generated through the sale of alcohol offset the damage done?

Prisons are going to need a billion over the next ten years with almost 90% of imates locked up for alcohol & drug related offences. Need a detox center & that will cost millions to run. Police, courts, county jail, & a list that will never end. Half million people have been killed in auto/alcohol related accidents since 1982, almost 18,000 a year. The state pays people to sell alcohol & brags about seven million increase in alcohol sales. What sense does that make? Let private business run liquor stores & pay the wages. Take campaign contributions alcohol companies give to our employees & use it to pay for the damage it causes.

Don't worry, your chances of getting killed in a place you own are getting better everyday. A drunk driver will pull in one night & your little house on the prairie will be more than just a dream, it'll be a nightmare.

The only reason taxes increase is because We the People stand by & allow our misrepresenatives to sell US out the highest bidder through campaign contributions & give tax cuts back in return. Tax cuts We absorb which makes your taxes go UP! In 1940 corporations paid 50% of taxes, today they pay 10%. Guess who pays the forty they used to pay plus fifty we always paid & why.

You might want to take a closer look. 17,600 a year, 500,000 since 1982. If you're 41 & have never owned your own home, you might want to ask mom & dad if you can move out. What would you know about paying taxes? Instead of buying you're going to wait for your parents to pass? Some people's kids.
