Matt Lauer interview with Sen. Larry Craig

NBC will air Matt Lauer's interview with Sen. Larry Craig on Tuesday night. Are you planning to watch it? What do you think Craig will say? What do you want him to say? Is there anything he could say that would change your current opinion of him -- either in favor or against?

No

I think the sad part is when his own people voted him in and he refuses to listen....specially on the illegal issue and now his refusal to resign tells me that you the people no longer own that seat. The Corporations now do. I thought of this Senator like that for ages. Whats really scary? How many other Senate seats are corporate owned? However, the one party mentality of the voters thinking Craig has done a lot for Idaho? I bet those corps who have him in his pockets are laffing their toes off right now. In a way I feel sorry for ya alls but of course the re election of ANY incumbent is more than likely the fault of any voter.

Yes, but only to comment

At this point my only thought is for the people of Idaho to speak directly to Sen. Craig. One word will do it; RECALL! Much easier and cheaper is our Governor standing up and doing his job, Ask for his resignation. I feel Craig has every right to pursue his legal rights to appeal and appeal and appeal, he has the right to explain what happened until he is blue in the face, he has the right to blame every person in the nation for this mess. It changes nothing......he came home and stood at the Depot and lied to the people of Idaho with his wiggle words and double speak, Idaho doesn't do business like that and he has broken the trust of the people! I don't care about his "Stance" I don't care about his appeals, I don't care about his years of service. He broke the trust of the people in Idaho. I really thought he was a true Idahoen who knew "the rules of conduct" regardless of who is watching. He still doesn't get it! It is so far past the guilty plea, which he seems to want "do overs" because he was found out. More appeals because the judge didn't say what he wanted, and now he has decided to finish out his term because he wants to. Well the man works for me not the other way around and I don't WANT him!

Sen. Craig

As a former law enforcement officer, it is amusing to read how the senator's wife is behind him and supportive. He has duped her, just like he is duping himself and his constituents.

Participants in the "Tea Room Trade" survive in the shadowy underworld of homosexual relationships because they cannot admit their leanings and cannot escape the drives that push them into their hidden relationships. Senator Craig probably has been involved in this type of activity for many years and has been able to "get away" with it. This time he got caught with his pants down (figuratively).

The best thing he can do is resign and collect his pension. Let someone else who can be effective in the U. S. Senate take his place. Sure, it will take a few years for the replacement to garner as much power as Craig had, but, hopefully, Idaho will have someone who can represent the state without this embarrassing incident coloring everyone's perception of the current senator.

Many police agencies make similar arrests and do so at the request of business owners and concerned citizens. While Sen. Craig may have been able to fool his wife and some supporters, he needs to take the high road and remove himself from public office. If he won't, then it's up to the voters to replace him.

Closing the Question

Larry and Suzanne closed two questions for me. First, is Larry gay or bisexual? NO, clearly he is not either. Second, was Larry the innocent victim of a zealous sex sting at the Minneapolis Airport? YES, that too is clearly the case. To make matters worse, the arresting officer's assurances were not honored, and his threats were not legal. He had no jurisdiction in the arrest per Section 6, Article 1 of the U. S. Constitution. Senator Craig tried to make that point right up front and the authorities ignored him. There is always the possibility that this new Congress has suspended our Constitution rights, and simply overlooked telling any of us.

Actions speak louder...

Than his words of denile. No need to regurgitate his actions. He pled guilty. He had a criminal defense team working for him months prior to his arrest. He said he sought no counsel, but now I'm questioning this. The counsel can't testify against him but why the need for a criminal lawyer before way before the arrest? Why did he not inform his counsel that he had hired. Is he using campaign funds for something even more sinister? Does it relate to personal or senatorial business? Could there be other problems out there for Larry?
