Submitted by dcarnopis on Wed, 10/10/2007 - 11:07am.
Lt. Gov. Jim Risch and former Congressman Larry LaRocco are already looking for votes for next year's race to replace Larry Craig. Who are you backing and why?

Run Larry, Run!!
I'm getting behind Larry's behind again because I love reaching around to give him a hand with his wide stance. He's the man for me, and he could be the man for you too. RE-ELECT LARRY 2008!!! Luv ya, CB

Gads! here we go -- we're going to be so sick of this by the time we vote!
We were 6 years ago...
weren't we? It's a stomach bug so take your Pepto a while.
Idaho's Next Senator
Someone new is needed outside the current so called applicants. He or She should be outside
the current "Good Old Boy's". We still have time to decide!
Not a Good Old Boy
If you are tired of the "Good Old Boy's, I need your support. Check out my website of "whyscott.com". I am not a career politician, just someone who wants to represent the people of Idaho. I am an Iraq veteran, native Idahoan, small business owner who really does want to make a difference. I will be running a grass roots campaign and need all the help I can get to take our government back from career politicians.
Scott
Well, good luck with that Scott
I believe Risch has it sewn up, but he's not getting my vote either. "Career" politicians are not the problem, its the Idaho Republican party. It does not serve its citizens, it only serves corporate/business interests, and citizens here are merely a commodity. I may vote for a Republican again in another state, but I will never vote Republican as long as I live in Idaho.
Grass Roots?
Does this mean you will make a Midnight Confession, Sooner Or Later?
God, I wish these folks would figure out better cliches.
Okay, Scotty...
We've barely met and you want us to go to your WEBSITE? That's a cheap date with no fortune cookie.
Who are you? Are you related to the family that owns the electrical business that used to be partnered with McKnight in Weiser?
What is your background in public service?
What influence do you hope to have on Congress and where do you figure to be the most instrumental in changing the tone and agenda of Congreess and our government?
Have you run before and for what?
How did your business flourish, or fail while fully under your control as that says a boatload about your leadership qualities?
Speak to us and then mention a website, please?
Forgive my bad manners. Hi,
Forgive my bad manners. Hi, I am Scott. I grew up in Weiser where my cousins had the electrical business that used to be partnered with McKnight. My cousin started the business with McKnight after they both returned from WWII. I've never run for political office which I view as a plus. George Washington had no previous experience and some people think he did a pretty good job. I worked at the highest levels of the Multi National Force Iraq when serving at the US Embassy in Baghdad for 9 months. My experience there is how I think I can best influence Congress.
I really learned about leadership in the Army where the importance of taking care of the people you lead was drilled into me. In college, I had a professor who would always say, "People are your most important asset." and I think that is true of business as well as politics. Our child care business did well, we sold it and later opened the real estate office in Caldwell. So far, so good.
Better response?
It'll do.
FO
Questions, Scott...
How will you escape the trap of having to spend your entire term raising money for your next run?
Will you vote in a manner to rescind the signing statements and unprecedented grabs for power by the Executive branch under Bush?
Do you believe the office of Vice President is not required to answer to the Justice Department?
Will you work hard to close down Guantanamo?
Will you help bring the troops home?
This will do as a start.
A few answers.
So many questions. I think you already have the answers but here goes. I'm not worried about being reelected; I am focusing on getting past the primary. If elected I believe how you conduct yourself in office will generate the necessary backing should the people choose to have me run again. President Hoover wrote in his book that 20% of the Congress during his term in the Congress were the workers, 35% were average, and the rest did nothing (or something to that effect). I want to be in the 20% that work hard to advocate on behalf of the citizens of Idaho.
As far as bringing the troops home, I have to address this from my experience in Iraq. It is important to note however, that each soldiers experience in a combat zone is different. I think that most soldiers want to believe what they are doing is "moving the ball forward" in the sense that they are making things better for someone else. They believe in the quote from Edmund Burke "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Believe me, there are thousands of GOOD men/women perfoming magnificently in the most trying of circumstances. As a soldier, I want to bring the troops home with their heads held high.
Will you at least get corn on the TABLE and not in a pump?
Food drives a nation, not security.
BTW Since I'm in Oregon...
I have to replace Tom Butler, whom I was satisfied with and whom always took time to either call or visit KSRV and talk to us about our government and it's processes.
I feel as if I have a harder job than you guys.
Good luck Scotty, couldn't find that web site.
What happened to term limits? Exactly!
New people in politics is a great idea, too bad they get a new brain when elected. Not by choice so much as through the, support my bill or I won't support your bill trade off influenced by how much was contributed & lobbyists who paid linestanders to get in to see our representation. Representatives we pay a fine salary with auto raises, health care, & retirement which we lose more of everyday. Funny how that works.
According to our misrepresentatives cheap labor is the best thing since canned beer yet they get auto payraises. If cheap labor is so great, why don't they get auto pay cuts?
I guess it depends who's pay we're talking about. They will break the American people, one at a time before anyone realizes we're all broke & can't pay the next tax increase.
Maybe we would get more done if we made the representatives we have, do the job we pay them for? Listen, hear that? "That will never work." That's right it won't, not as long as everyone jumps in with two cents of negative attitude. That is the same reason Scotty will not be elected. Better start soliciting the corporations with tax cuts. Baffle them with BS & you're on your way.
Sorry Scotty you are beating a dead horse. The American people wouldn't stand up for themselves if their own kids were being sent to a war based on lies & they were being taxed to death. That is what is happening, proven with the approval ratings Congress & the President are getting, but they still won't do anything about it. It's a good thing we had the American Revolution when we did because nothing is going to happen any time soon to suggest We the People are the boss. America will be in recession, depression, & belly up with everyone asking how & why before they would put government in it's place, working for US!
Terrorist don't have to attack America, their allies, our misrepresentation is doing a bang up job of running US into the dirt. All terrorist have to do is make a few videos & send them to Bush. He'll start the wars, spend the money, & send the Americans, too young to know better, off to die while their families pay for it all.
We need a new song to go along with America's 21st century battle cry, "there's nothing you can doooo." Bye Bye American Lie has certain ring to it.
That ought to stir it up. Have at her, can't wait to hear it.
Hey, Mister Palooka!
I DON'T LIKE TERM LIMITS.
Nixon had us secretly carpetbombing Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and a country TBA when I manage to recall it. Bush is a wimp at this and never fought in Vietnam either I think so I guess he can make the same mistakes...
Nobody wants you to know and they try to stay one peel below in the onion. The rest of the weirdos gum up the Internet the DOD so graciously handed to commercial interests about 20+ years ago or so. If you only see this layer, you are probably blind.
There! You have a new rant, so go forth and take new ridicule and crack a cold root beer!
The question was,
What happened to term limits?
I didn't say I liked them or disliked them. Many feel voting, the democratic process, is term limits, vote them out if you don't like them. Funny thing is voting is how term limits were manipulated into history. The way it was written on the ballot people misunderstood & voted against term limits thinking they were voting for term limits. That's some of the feedback I was hearing & it's fine with me if the American people allow government to decide for them.
It fine with me if people want government to send their kids to die in war based on lies. That is your attitude toward the taxes people who drive pay in registration fees while making the point you don't drive. Would you suggest it's Ok if someone who doesn't have a son or daughter in Bush's war to say, I don't care? There are many things to consider beside whether or not you drive or I have a kid in Bush's war. If everybody in America cares only about themselves, we aren't going to have many people willing to go to war when we need them as they were dumped on by our misrepresentatives who cried wolf one too many times. We had Vietnam, now we have Iraq & the lies have become American history.
After the last couple elections resulting in a self proclaimed war president who had never been to war, has yet to win one, along with all the scandals, democracy in America is a joke, & the world knows it. Idaho has a new scandal as soon if not before as the last one is old news. Don't suppose that is why democracy is going over so well in Iraq, Pakistan, or any of the other countries we're blowing back to the stone age with our weapons of minor distruction?
Something one of our illustrious representatives said when term limits was an issue always stuck with me. It's been so long I don't recall the exact wording. "Sometimes people don't know what they want or what's best for them." I don't remember which one of those clowns said that but it struck me as something a dictator would say & expect the people to believe it.
I could be wrong but that is what I remember after the vote, people couldn't or didn't understand the ballot. If I'm wrong I can't help but wonder why the vote, the entire mess was around for so long. How many times did the people & court favor term limits & why does anything that doesn't sit right with politicians come back time & time again until they get what they want? Corporate influence, lobbyist, or maybe the crooked as a dog's hind leg, politicans? Too much money on the line to let We the People screw it up?
Ask the developers who made their money while we're stuck with the pollution & gridlock.
After three or four decisions to have term limits why wasn't it law or policy? I don't care if the people want term limits or not as long as the people get a fair say & not a manipulated shell game called democracy.
Nobody cares what you or I like, government most of all as indicated by the statement above. "People don't know what they want or what's best for them?" You say you don't like term limits, then get into Nixon carpetbombing. What does carpetbombing have to do with term limits?
Government is all about lies. That is evidently what the people want or we would do something about it.
Bye Bye Amnerican Lie. When it's all a memory & the next generation is asking why & what happened we can say, I don't know. I was so busy working to pay all of corporate unAmerica's taxes evaded through campaign finance, my misrepresentatives broke the country & ran off with all the money they invested in foreign markets. They came up with NAFTA, CAFTA, promoted illegal immigration, broke Social Security, health care, & finally broke the American people one at a time! Free trade! They traded our freedom for a bundle & we got a hot poker because we, didn't like term limits? Maybe we just weren't paying attention & lost our $ in a shell game.
There's your rant.
I know...
Iraq, gay scandals, Social Security, the "surge", Anna Nicole and Bullwinkle, school shootings, You Tube, You Tube, You Tube..............
basically everything passed it by and now it's a non-starter.
The music, don't forget
the music. Bye Bye American Lie.
I just woke up after a hard sleep...
but frankly, it's a worldwide lie if there is one. No kidding yourself. You're still gonna die anyhow though.
Sleep is easy
Bush has it under control? It's a lie, & the rest of the world is suffering because of the same control freak we allowed to break US.
You take care of the Bad Ol' Bush then...
I'm sure.
You sure
you're sure? What are you sure of? Is sleep easy or hard? I don't think you're so sure.
Take a poll then...
I've been finding electronics parts all night and I'm hitting the jackpot on stuff I never thought I'd find. Too much FUN!
New chemistry set?
Impressed with what your rich uncle gave you for graduating third grade. Better be careful or your man Bush will be after you. CIA has you listed as a late night, hard sleeping, bike riding, terrorist with a third grade education, & WMD. Just look at the terrorist stuff you're posting on the internet, a threat to National Security no doubt. I'll bet there's a black chopper over your house right now.
T'pocketa, T'pocketa
Check yourself in, Otis. Thelma Lou made some rhubarb pie and brought it over for everybody!
greyghost
Sounds like you need to adjust your "sleep number" .
I hate what Bush has done to this country also but your standard "I hate Bush" rant is now attacking people at random . Bad decision -- it cuts your credibility , but hey , do what you got to do .
Reddog
Sorry Redog
but I'm excercising the rights so many fought & died for. I'll not disrepect them by sitting by & doing nothing. Not excersing those rights would be the greatest disrepect one could show to those who sacrificed so much. Hold government accountable today & we won't have to send more to die for all the wrong reasons tomorrow.
It isn't just my right it's my responsibility. Maybe I take it a little more serious than some but I've lived a pretty good life thanks to the people in our military, not our government. I've watched people report crime in government & done so myself only to have government cover it up. I've seen people who report crime in government get the shaft & see scandals everyday. Boise, Id has her share.
If more people took the approach of being shareholders in the largest corproatin in the world, America & held our CEO & board of directors accountable it might save the life of just one American service member. I personally reported my boss at the Nebraska Dept. of Forestry for stealing tax $ & selling excess military equipment our soldiers could have benefitted from through the sale of but are instead dying without. I don't sit by & do nothing when I have a responsility. Doing nothing & living by the 21st century battle cry, "there's nothing you can dooo" isn't my way. Doing nothing may have become the America terrorist know they can defeat but it isn't the way I will live.
You have the right...
to be here, but only until somebody says you don't.
RIGHTS. RUBBISH. You have responsibilities and privileges you earn and keep by following them.
You got some foolishness from Beserkley, NoCal.
Ride Sally ride
your bike with all that college education, to Red Apple. Look at you respond while badgering others for responding. Don't think you have rights? I haven't heard one idea out of your eight years of college to bring about any tax relief. What did you major in, bicyling? How many miles per gallon do you get? You voted for Bush twice & the rest of US have to pay for it. Leave it alone junior, you're not up to it.
greyghost
Why would you post your nonsense on the thread meant for our soldiers ? You are beyond a doubt a total frickin jerk .
Reddog
I've mentioned that to somebody already.
FO
Where should I support them?
Sorry buddy but if being in support of the military, US soldiers, on this thread or any other is wrong, then I'm wrong. I'm not going to disrepect the people who fight for my freedom just because you think it's not the right thread.
I don't like Bush or agree with the way he's run the country & if I say so while exercising the rights US soldiers fight for, I doubt any of them would object. If they do they might want to give some thought as to why they signed up. Did they sign up to Bush or to serve their country & what it stands for? If you don't support them & exercise the rights they fight for, that's up to you.
I don't know what you're all so afraid of. Standing up to corrupt government, change, or life itself? Is bashing some guy who bashes me what bothers you? Can't he stand on his own two feet?
I guess the United States & constitution are a joke to you guys. I'm sure those soldiers are glad to know you think so. I recently had two nephews return from Iraq & they don't have a problem with the American people exercising our rights. They seem to have a good understanding of why they were in the military. One was a Marine for eight years, two in Iraq & the other in the Army, two years in Iraq. They're both just about out & I've heard all I need to about Iraq through their experiences.
greyghost
Ya , you were wrong to use that thread . Why is it so hard for you to admit you were wrong ? Hell everyone is wrong every now and then .
Watching you try to "spin" your way out of it however , was amusing .
Reddog
Yeah.
he's still spinning. Dizzy now. Britneyesque dope wicked spinning.
Wipe the sac sweat off your chin & swallow,
idiot!
Reddog
Who is spinning now that you have made it clear your appreciation or lack of for freedom? You're right about one thing, everyone is wrong every now & then. Evidently it's up to you to decide who is & who isn't. Sounds wrong in itself. If the thread is meant for our soldiers & nobody else is allowed, then I was wrong. I don't recall seeing the rules stating such. I'll go back & check. If you look around you'll find all kinds of stuff on all kinds of threads.
greyghost
Well ?
Did you find the "rules" for posting on that thread ?
Will you admit you were wrong ?
Will pigs fly ?

Crickets !

Reddog
You don't think I really looked
do you? Why were you going on about some other thread while on this thread? If you look around you'll see I gave a response on that thread after I realized what you were talking about.
I've been wrong a lot in my life, so has everyone else. You'll never get anyone to admit they are when you come off that way. When I finally figured out you were talking about the garbage I posted I would have been glad to tell you all about it.
It was garbage posted after garbage just to point out the garbage. Forget about it. I'm not going to bother with his posts anymore no matter what he goes off on. Look what he just put on some other stuff, I was just kicking him for it. Pigs are flying, I was wrong but I think you may have misunderstood what was posted as an insult about the military.
greyghost
As long as I have your attention perhaps you would like to defend this disgusting remark :

I was a "frequent flier" on the old message board , they had a Message to our Troops thread . So when I saw it on this forum it was nothing new and like the old board was little used .
I noticed Bobby Mead wrote a few chapters in his, "I am crazier than a outhouse rat" , biography and gave it the attention it deserved -------- none .
I probably got on you case a little more than was needed -------- sorry .
Reddog
Hey, don't even think about it.
It was my fault, I let some stuff get me go over. A lot of people suggest I'm too uptight but if they knew me they'd realize I should be locked up for just the opposite.
Maybe I can get an evaluation with the same guy Bush does.
If you look at the stuff I bash Foreignoregoian with you can find humor in it, you might have to look hard but it's there. Having four older brothers, working construction, & in several factories has given me a natural defense mechanism I tend to be a little abusive with.
Have you ever listened to or seen Lewis Black? The first time I heard him I though he had my job because he was bashing government as bad as I do. You're right, remarks like that are out of line. I'm going to tone down, not acknowledge the negative posts so much, no matter how much I would like to bring my bad humor into the game.
Lewis Black

He's great ! How in the hell does he get his finger to bend like that ?

US vs John Lennon & Imagine
were recently on TV & it brought back to me a lot of things forgotten. I was pretty young when all that was going on but it still had an impact. I was lucky, I got out of high school in December 1974 & Vietnam was over but I watched it with the family every night on the six o'clock news.
What I found interesting is how hard Nixon & the CIA tried to keep Lennon out of the US & peace from happening. In the end Nixon had to resign in what would have to be considered a corrupt White House with all kinds of wire tapping going on. Now we have the Bush adminstration wire tapping & it's passed off with executive privilege. War, War, War? You would think even a poor, {not in the financial sense} Congressman would make that point or roll back the film on Vietnam instead of just suggesting Iraq is like Vietnam.
Too bad Lennon isn't still with US, peace might have a chance. Maybe I should send Bush a letter suggesting he watch the Lennon documentaries. He never reads my letters, I don't think I/m on the White House list of pen pals. That hurts me.
Blue collar comedy! Maybe that's the tool to use, laugh our misrepresentatives into representation. Cable Guy for President.
Why did you think...
normal sibling struggles was akin to "A Boy Named Sue"? Competition between brothers and sisters is normal but it's meant to be in the context of growing strong as a family and eventually as the leader of your own family and among your friends and people you work with.
I AM a smartaleck and slightly less tolerant than I ought to be. I still want those around me to think harder in needed and not afraid to poke some. I never like to feel like a fool and I say so when it happens. I've never been afraid to agree with you where I think it's due and I figured it's best to let you work out some other things or let others offer their 2 cents.
Whatever you do here is probably a lot more forgiven than what you do on the street. Writing on a blog is insulated from others who would interact with you a lot differently if not more negatively and could cause a lot of heartache. You cannot edit your actions offline.
