Surviving cancer

Are you a cancer survivor or know someone who is? Share your stories here.

Cancer Survior
I am a 1 year Stage 3, node positive, Breast Cancer survivor!!! I went through 4 months of intense chemo, 6 weeks of nasty radiaton and now am on Tamoxifen for the next 4.5 years. I feel great, and I owe much credit to my God. At Stage 3, we didn't think there was a chance. After a radical mastectomy and lots of treatment I am in remission. I am only 41 and I am looking forward to at least another 50 years if the Lord grants it. We can fight this and win!!!
My brother is a 30 year survivor of
a childhood cancer which had previously been considered untreatable. Little bro made the medical journals, and helped pioneer the treatment they now use for children suffering from lymphosarcoma.
We owe all credit to some very fine doctors, an excellent nursing staff, our family which came together in love and support, and my little brother's will to conquer the cancer monster.
Fundraising
My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in February, so fundraising for research has become almost an obsession of mine. She lives in Colorado and there is only so much time I can be there and only so much I can do while I am there. So, I have partnered with some Relay for Life teams as well as the local branch of The American Cancer Society to raise money. I am doing a fundraiser on Thursday, May 15th 7pm at the U of I Extension Building - 5880 Glenwood (across the street from Pastry Perfection). There will be a cooking show, special pink products available for sale and raffles where all the money goes to ACS. I am a consultant for a high quality kitchen tool company and am donating most of my commission from this. All I want to do is cover my expenses. If you need more information, you can email me at jensenkate@gmail.com
This is basically my way of being active in the fight!
