An Ada County Commissioner candidate forum focusing on the Ada County/Dynamis waste-to-energy project takes place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Eagle Public Library, 100 N. Stierman Way.

Participating candidates include Larry Rincover and Jim Tibbs (District 1) and Dave Case and Thomas Howell (District 3).

The North End Neighborhood Association hosts its candidate forum for District 19 Legislative and Ada County Commission candidates at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Hyde Park Mennonite Church, 12th and Eastman Streets.

All candidates have been invited to participate in the forum.

Questions will be selected from the audience and moderated by a NENA Board Member; all District 19 residents are welcome to attend and submit questions.

In this year’s presidential election, issues regarding the federal government have taken center stage. An upcoming free lecture at Boise State University will focus on limiting government.

Brandt Foundation Lectures and the Boise State College of Business and Economics will present constitutional law professor Richard A. Epstein at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom at Boise State. Epstein’s presentation is titled “Putting the Limits Back in Limited Government.”

Branden Durst, state Senate candidate in South and Southeast Boise’s Dist. 18 picked up an endorsement from Michael Lanza and Sue Lovelace, co-chairs of the recent successful Boise School District levy campaign.

The Northwest Boise/Garden City district is now represented by three Democrats, but it has elected Republicans in recent years and an open House seat has the GOP eyeing a pickup.

The 7 p.m. forum is sponsored by the West Bench Neighborhood Association and will be held at the library at Ustick and Cole roads.

On the ballot for the Senate are incumbent Democrat Les Bock vs. GOP nominee Joan Cloonan.

In the open House seat, Democrat Hy Kloc faces Republican Graham Paterson.

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce hosts a forum with Ada County Highway District commission candidates on Thursday.

The forum takes place from 8 to 9:15 a.m. in the Chamber’s lower level conference center at 5th and Front streets in Downtown Boise.

Three of the district’s five seats are up election in November.

Voters cast ballots for the non-partisan commission seat representing the area where they live.

District 1 (Southeast area of the county, following Interstate 84, Federal Way and Warm Springs Avenue from downtown east to the county line.)

Ada County Commissioner candidate Larry Rincover said he supports recalling Commissioner Rick Yzaguirre.

It is not known if anyone has started gathering signatures to recall Yzaguirre.

Rincover issued the following press release Wednesday:

The governor and lieutenant governor host this western-style dinner, a fundraiser for Sen. Patti Anne Lodge and Sen. Bert Brackett, 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Sandbar Spot on the Snake River, 12 Sandbar Ave. in Marsing.

The evening will feature Idaho Preferred products and western music. On the menu: Brackett Ranch tri tip, Lodge Ranch cow camp corn and Circle Bar onions, campfire applesauce and chuck wagon potatoes. Sour dough rolls and fresh Sunnyslope apple cake round out the menu.

The Branden Durst campaign has released a web ad with voiceover work by Ted Williams, also known as the "Man with the Golden Pipes." Williams is the formerly homeless man who gained fame in 2011 after he appeared in a video clip that went viral on Youtube.

Durst said he told Williams about his efforts as a legislator to help homeless and struggling Idahoans.

Candidates in the Ada County Commissioner race will meet in a debate on the Boise State campus at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in the Student Union Jordan A Ballroom.
