Wyoming football coach Dave Christensen has been suspended for this week’s home game against Boise State, according to media reports out of Wyoming.
Christensen won’t be at practices or in team facilities. He also has been fined $50,000.
Assistant head coach Pete Kaligis will replace Christensen this week.
“The program Christensen has installed is a fine oiled machine,” Kaligis said. “It rolls.”

UPDATE:
The Boise State football team is No. 21 in this week’s Bowl Championship Series standings — up one spot.
The Broncos did better in the polls — No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and No. 19 in the Harris poll — but the computers are starting to drag them down because of their schedule. Boise State added one-win UNLV to its ledger this week and three of its non-conference opponents lost.

The Boise State blackout has been a hit in stores.
Travis Hawkes, the owner of The Blue & Orange Store, and Mike Reed, the director of the Bronco Shops, are featured in our weekly Q&A in Saturday’s paper.
Here are a couple highlights about Saturday’s blackout:

Boise State senior weak-side linebacker J.C. Percy could become the Broncos’ first first-team, all-conference linebacker since Korey Hall in 2006. Percy has 56 tackles in six games — putting him on pace for 121 tackles.
That would be the most tackles by a Bronco since the school moved to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 1996. Jeremy Haener holds the record with 119 in 1996. Byron Hout led the team last year with just 69 tackles.
Percy has 233 career tackles with a high of 65 as a sophomore.

The Boise State football team’s run game has yo-yoed this season — from 37 yards to 295 to 116 to 203 to 109 to 215 in the first six games.
That lack of consistency has shown up within games, too. The Broncos rushed for 215 yards last week against Fresno State but twice settled for field goals inside the 2-yard line.

Bakersfield (Calif.) College cornerback Mercy Maston has committed to the Boise State football program, Bakersfield coach Jeff Chudy confirmed Tuesday.
Maston is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore. He plays at the same school that sent linebacker Daron Mackey and defensive end Tyrone Crawford to Boise State.
“Great player,” Chudy said. “As good of a corner as we’ve had over the years. Mackey, Crawford … he’s that kind of caliber guy.”

Short-yardage failures have been one of the key issues for the Boise State offense this season.
On Saturday, the Broncos kicked two field goals inside the Fresno State 2-yard line. They ran the ball 11 times on second- or third-and-4 or shorter and only picked up the first down three times.
For the season, the Broncos are tied for 109th in the nation in red-zone offense. They have 11 touchdowns and eight field goals in 28 drives.
They also are 0-for-7 on fourth down.

No Fresno State Bulldog has more motivation to beat the Broncos, or is more important to the effort, than junior quarterback Derek Carr.
The younger brother of former Fresno State star David Carr lives with a Boise State flag on his wall — a message from his older brother. He can’t take down the flag unless he beats the Broncos, who spoiled David’s senior season with an upset in Fresno.
“My wife is begging me to take it down,” Derek Carr said. “I’m going to do my best.”

Boise State junior defensive end Kharyee Marshall was a promising redshirt freshman two years ago — before a series of injuries derailed him.
He’s back in the rotation at end this season and is starting to make an impact. He forced a fumble last week and has seven tackles on the season.
Marshall shares time with sophomore Beau Martin behind starter Sam Ukwuachu.
“It felt good to be back out there playing fast and doing what I need to do,” Marshall said.
