Boise State announced Wednesday the signing of three junior college players — cornerback Cleshawn Page (Harbor College, Los Angeles), kicker Tyler Rausa (Riverside City College, Temecula, Calif.) and running back Derrick Thomas (Butler Community College, Dothan, Ala.).
All three will join the program in January. Rausa will be a sophomore; the other two are juniors.

LAS VEGAS — I met with Washington defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox, the two-time Fiesta Bowl champion defensive coordinator at Boise State (2006-09), on Wednesday morning for a story that will appear tomorrow.
Here are some highlights from an interesting conversation:

I’m on my way to Las Vegas this afternoon. The Broncos arrive this evening. The Washington Huskies arrived Monday evening.
In tomorrow’s paper, we have our usual look at the opponent — a scouting report and a player feature, this one on tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins.
For the blog, I’ve put together a list of key Washington players with some quotes I’ve collected about each:

Former Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti is in his third year as a college football analyst for ESPN and will work the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday at Bronco Stadium. He also is Boise State coach Chris Petersen’s former boss with Oregon — the last place Petersen worked before he moved to Boise in 2001. We caught up with Bellotti this week to talk about the Potato Bowl, MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, Petersen and the challenges facing college coaches.

Boise State junior defensive tackle Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe doesn’t say much.
And he plays a position that is predominantly grunt work.
Throw in the fact that he hadn’t been made available to the media all year and his 2012 season was the epitome of quiet.
It was also successful.

Former Boise State quarterback and assistant coach Bryan Harsin was introduced as the new football coach at Arkansas State on Wednesday.
Harsin, a Capital High graduate, is believed to be the first Treasure Valley product to get a head coaching job in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
Former Capital coach Steve Vogel remembers talking to Harsin about his career aspirations when Harsin told him he was going to walk on at Boise State in 1995.

The Boise State football team will play home games against Louisville and Rutgers and a road game at Cincinnati in 2013, the Big East announced Tuesday.
Those three crossover opponents from the East division are the three returning Big East co-champs. Louisville (ACC) and Rutgers (Big Ten) are leaving the Big East after 2013 and were sent to Boise — like TCU of the Mountain West last year.
In the West division, Boise State will play Houston and Memphis at home and travel to San Diego State, SMU and Temple.
