The Boise State football team added a commitment this weekend from the defensive MVP of the Texas state championship game.
Cornerback Cameron Hartsfield (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) of Allen (Texas) High committed Saturday on a visit to Boise State. He previously committed to Nevada.
Boise State contacted Hartsfield two weeks ago, he said.
“I was still open to all my options and Boise State came in late,” he said. “I just wanted to check them out. I ended up loving it there.”

The Boise State football team began its 2013 work this week with a return to the four-days-a-week strength and conditioning schedule.
Strength coach Tim Socha, who joined the staff in 2006, has tried to change up the workouts enough from year to year to avoid stagnation. This year, the workouts are part of a team-wide competition that includes academics and community service.

When the Boise State football team lost starting free safety Lee Hightower to suspension in late October, the Broncos ranked eighth in the nation in pass defense and seventh in pass-efficiency defense.
Five games later, with redshirt freshman Darian Thompson playing free safety, they’re tied for fourth in pass defense and seventh in pass-efficiency defense.
In other words, it was a seamless transition — and that hasn’t been the case with personnel changes in the secondary in recent years.
