Youth Lagoon: 'Dropla'

Boise indie-pop hero Trevor Powers, aka Youth Lagoon, dropped a gorgeous, dreamy new song this morning.

"Dropla" is from Youth Lagoon's sophomore album, "Wondrous Bughouse, to be released March 5 on Fat Possum Records. (As a closet entomologist who's lucky enough to find wind scorpions and Jerusalem crickets in my front yard, I really love that album title — whatever it actually means. But I digress.)

Youth Lagoon will perform March 21 as part of Boise's Treefort Fest. With a fresh album on fans' minds, the mood should be euphoric.

The 8 mm film warble piano is cute but gets old.

In the end, the end drones on with no oomph, unlike Hey Jude.

A sound poem but no song.
