In his State of the State speech today, Gov. Butch Otter asked the Legislature to approve $400,000 to help local landowners fight range and forest fires themselves. The idea is based on a fire protection district formed by Mountain Home-area ranchers last fall.

All this is is another taxing district; another way to collect taxes on private real property. Until the exemptions are eliminated from churches, etc. We do not need more taxing entities.
