Risch, Crapo both voted for the fiscal cliff compromise

Idaho two Republican Senators supported the "fiscal cliff" compromise that now is before the House.

Here's what Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch had to say in a joint statement about the deal that passed 89-8 in the Senate.

"The compromise that we supported protects 99-percent of all Idahoans from a tax increase and also protects the vast majority of our farm families from a permanent tax increase. This is a victory for working Idahoans, but we must now be very aggressive in finding appropriate spending reductions."

Hopefully next election we

Hopefully next election we can get a more Conservative Senators to represent Idaho. Seen to much of this caving by Republicans going on lately.

Yes, the ignorantor da bedder...

Yah we don't need no compromisin'! Bedder to ruin the credit rating of the country than to (almost) return to the Clinton tax rates. The poor folks making over $400 K have to pay 3% more! My God, they have suffered enough. Vote out Crapo and Risch indeed

Actually it's 4.6% more .... from 35% to 39.6%

And that's for taxable income above $450,000 for couples and $400,000 for individuals on the the final bill passed by both the House and Senate. The Bush tax cuts remain in effect up to those limits. Oh, the horror.

Not when expressed as an increase-Got Mathematics?

It's less than a 6% overall increase.

Which is like saying Grandpa was a size 36 but now wears 42 overalls.

It's actually a 13% increase

The rate is increasing by 4.6 percentage points but that's actually 13% more than it was before.

Check the math

Assuming taxable income of $1,000,000

Tax at 35% = $350,000
Tax at 39.6% = $396,000

The difference of $46,000 divided into $350,000 is 13.1%

A. How happy would you be with a 13.1% pay cut?
B. Is another $46,000 better spent by the U.S. government or a wealthy investor?

Just saying.

OKAY-I'll agree as I'm between a 44 and 46 now anyway.

Yadayadayada.....

Do you libs and welfare queens really not get it! Rates dont mean squat when an attourney and a couple accountants get you to zero! Have you seen any of whats in this bill? You really think the middle income people that DO pay taxes are not going to get hit with the brunt of the burden? Its the productive members of the middle class that ALWAYS take the hit! The slackers get theirs for free and the super wealthy and political class skate by on insider trading and loopholes. Risch-Crapo-Simpson are scumbags enriching themselves while bleeding this country to death.
When do you wake up people...its not Democrat against Republican its THEM AGAINST US!

YOU FIGHT THEM THEN, JACK. Nobody gives a crap.

Cheers to both Risch and Crapo

for supporting this reasonable compromise. And it's not the end of the game - it's only a first step, but an important one, in dealing with the federal deficit.

Thanks to both for their pragmatism, over the rampant and useless ideology many voters are sick of.
