I am posting this a day early because I will be on furlough until Dec. 26. Athletes of the week will return Dec. 31.
Tanner Percifield, Mountain View: The senior guard helped Mountain View earn three victories last week, highlighted by a 34-point outing in a 66-55 victory over Capital. In three games, Percifield totaled 60 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. His 34 points is the most scored by a 5A SIC player this season based on games reported to the Idaho Statesman.
Josie Lawrence, Mountain View: The senior forward posted a pair of double-doubles in two wins last week. Lawrence had 19 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-58 victory against Capital, and then added 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 53-39 win over Vallivue.
Hayden Tuma, Centennial; Jon Jay Chavez, Centennial: Both wrestlers won their respective weight classes to lead the Patriots to a sixth-place finish at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Tuma claimed the 138-pound title by pin and was named the tournament's most outstanding wrestler. Chavez earned a 3-0 decision in the 145-pound championship match.
