Wow, it looks like someone's testing out the snow at Brundage Mountain near McCall. Look at that photo.
The ski area announced today that when it opens on Friday, Dec. 14, 100 percent of the mountain will be open.
That's thanks to Wednesday's snowstorm. Eight inches of fresh powder fell between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, giving Brundage 17 inches of fresh snow this week.
Brundage Mountain has 68 inches of snow on the summit and about 18 inches of packed snow in the base area.
That extra blast of snow means that all 1,500 acres of terrain will be open starting Friday. All of the primary runs have been groomed. Some secondary runs will be left ungroomed for powder lovers to enjoy.
“I think our visitors are going to be really impressed with the amount of powder on the mountain,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “Forecasters are calling for another six to 10 inches Saturday night and Sunday so the news up here just gets better and better.”
Brundage plans to run the Blue Bird Quad, Lakeview Lift, Bear Chair and Easy Street lifts and to offer all regular mountain services. Lifts will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Early season conditions exist on the lowest parts of the mountain.
Lift tickets will be regular price, but anyone who purchases an all-mountain lift ticket opening weekend will receive a coupon for $15 off a future visit.
