The resort received 9 inches of base area snow since Thursday, Dec. 6, giving mountain crews just enough snow to prep the slopes for Friday’s opening. Brundage Mountain has well over 60” of snow on the summit and approximately 12” of packed snow in the base area.
“This has been an incredibly odd year for preseason snowfall,” said resort spokesperson, April Russell. “We’ve seen wet snow come and go at the base but continue to pile up and create an extremely deep snowpack on the upper mountain.”
This past week, falling temperatures gave the base area the boost it needed. Temperatures have remained low since Thursday and the fresh snow that fell since then has created an adequate snow base to open. The BlueBird Quad, Easy Street, and Lakeview Chairlifts will operate on Friday.
