I loved a story titled "Hipsters who Hunt" in Slate magazine, which I found linked through Field and Stream. I've been following the "locavores go hunting" movement with interest and a fair amount of smirking. "Hunting is undeniably in vogue among the bearded, bicycle-riding, locavore set," the Slate article states. I can't get over the irony of urbanites "discovering" hunting like it's some lost art, and also realizing the wrongly stereotyped bloodthirsty rednecks are actually people who care about wildlife and wild lands and want to protect both. This is my favorite line: Lon says the motivation for his liberal clan to don hunter orange is “spending time in the woods with friends and family, primarily. Oh, and drinking more than you can get away with at home, eating unhealthy food, and farting. These are bipartisan pursuits.”
Whether you call them locavores, hipsters, or just hunters, it's an interesting trend that I enjoy reading about, and hopefully you will to. Check out the article here HERE.

You too
Roger. You too.
I had the same reaction. Shaking my head.
I don't need to. Aim them away from the rest of them.

Apple users, run the Gig of RAM your PC needs to have and read the dumb tech white papers, wrinkle your forehead and buy more food and toilet paper with the difference. The internet is a piece of junk anyway and your cats know this.
Faux Semi-tough
As i trudged through the mud yesterday with a couple of roosters in my vest, cold air in my face and my pointer working her magic i knew why i was out there and why i was raised to appreciate hunting and the outdoors. I didn't meet any clowns out there trying to figure out the latest freak show for you tube. They must only come out if the sun is shining.
good
Sounds good.
Anything to help boost the #s of responsible hunters.
The hipsters need to be respectful of the old time hunters and the old time hunters need to be respectful of the hipsters- encouraging, teaching and advocating. It's all good.
Much like getting youth involved- most youth are interested in baggy pants and xbox. They need to be part of the hunting community.
Same with the ladies. Nice and pretty fingernails need not stop someone from pulling a trigger and getting some blood under the fingernails while gutting the game.
Hunting AND fishing are family sports, life-time sports, and something for communities to embrace.
But let's spread out more than just Unit 39.
New hips haven't been all that good of late...
