WAC champion Utah State has accepted an invitation to play in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, organizers announced Saturday.

The Aggies (10-2) will face a Mid-American Conference team at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Bronco Stadium. Utah State lost to Ohio in last year’s game.

The Aggies have won an outright conference title for the first time since 1936 and they’re ranked No. 25 in The Associated Press Top 25. They will be the first ranked team in Boise’s bowl since No. 19 Boston College beat Boise State in 2005.

The Aggies’ losses were by two points at Wisconsin and three points at BYU. They were undefeated in the WAC.

The MAC team likely will come from a group that includes Kent State, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Ball State and Bowling Green. That team probably won’t be decided until Dec. 2 because Kent State and Northern Illinois are in contention for a Bowl Championship Series berth.

The End of the World As We Know It

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. A joke name for a booby prize bowl. Condolences, Utah State. You deserve better.

Joke

Why is a name? Is a Rose, Orange, or Cotton Ball still a favorite industrial sponsor ? Is your antagonism misplaced self loathing or Californicated arrogance? Maybe the joke is in your hand.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

is an awesome tribute to the great State of Idaho. I'm glad the Aggies are representing the WAC. This is awesome.

Now that Maryland and Rutgers have accepted invitations to join the Big 10 it appears Rob Spear's prediction of the dominoes falling will come to fruition. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I do hope our Beloved Broncos hold out for an invitation to the ACC or Big 12 rather than go back to the MWC with their tail tucked between their legs.
