Note: This will be my last blog post until Dec. 3. See you then.
Five Things You Should Do This Weekend ...
Assuming you haven’t been trampled at Wally World on Black Friday:
1. ROCK TO THE NEW SOUND
Provo, Utah, band The New Electric Sound has created a local buzz thanks to a sleek blend of retro influences. The group’s $5 gig Saturday night at Neurolux should draw a crowd of friends excited to see frontman Scott Vance, who is from Eagle. Check him out in this video. (He’s the guy hanging upside down.)
2. JOIN THE PARADE
The Boise Holiday Parade gets rolling at 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning in Downtown Boise. This year’s theme: “Idaho Christmas through the years.”
3. DRINK WITH AARON
Former Centennial High student Aaron Paul has become famous as a meth cook on AMC’s ”Breaking Bad.” Now see him as a loving drunk! Paul co-stars in the critically acclaimed relationship drama “Smashed,” which is showing at The Flicks. (Where you can drink along in the theater, of course.)
4. LIGHT UP YOUR NIGHT
Join Boise mayor Dave Bieter at the Grove plaza Downtown for the annual Tree Lighting Celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Expect carolers, hot cider, candles and more.
5. SEE SOME LIVE SPORTS
The Idaho Steelheads take on the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:10 tonight and Saturday at CenturyLink Arena. Or check out an afternoon basketball game: Boise State welcomes UC Santa Barbara at 2 p.m. Saturday at Taco Bell Arena.
