Boise State has added a much-needed defensive tackle to its 2013 recruiting class.

Nick Terry of Pleasant Grove High in Elk Grove, Calif., chose the Broncos over Oregon State, Washington State and Nevada, he said Monday.

Terry (6-foot-4, 260 pounds) visited Boise State on Nov. 3. He told coaches he would make a decision after his final high school game, which was Saturday.

“This is the best place for me,” he said of Boise State. “The defense is just right for me, the way I play. It just felt like home for me when I visited.”

The Broncos lose three of their top four defensive tackles after this season. They are so thin at the position that they moved end Tyler Horn to tackle for the last four games of this season.

That was part of the attraction for Terry, who will be able to compete for playing time next season.

The Broncos have one other tackle commit, junior college transfer Justin Taimatuia.

“They need that position — that’s why they were recruiting me so hard,” Terry said.

He visited Washington State and Nevada and canceled a trip to Oregon State. He also had offers from Fresno State, Colorado State, UNLV and Cal Poly, he said.

“I’ve been playing varsity since sophomore year,” he said. “I got a lot of attention then but I never really dreamt that it would be this big, with all these coaches calling.”

Hope Nick Terry does well at Boise State....

Boise has always supported its football and also has a long tradtion of winning....

If the other DT from Hawaii

Kamalei Correa commits to Boise State, the D line could be looking good for several years.

Φ Have to lean on

Justin Taimatuia from Waipahu. That's kind of a tough area west of Pearl Harbor. Tough like Nanakuli, Waianae, and Kahuku ... just a bit more "refined".

Looking forward to seeing him next year. Nick and all the others, as well.

Fall scrimmage should be interesting with a 6'4" QB. When was the last one that tall, Lomax?

Kind of funny tonight seeing Kaepernick looking down at some of his linemen.

Blast from the past

Tough places indeed, Razor! I lived on Oahu for a couple of years and still remember my first night there. All over the news was a stabbing in Waipahu. I still have a T-shirt that says, 'Waipahu - No Place for Wimps'
