Off by one: Melaleuca ad misstates Statesman position on ed laws (UPDATED, 10:21 a.m.)

In its latest full-page ad touting the Students Come First education overhaul, Melaleuca erroneously said the Statesman endorses Proposition 1, a rewrite of the teacher collective bargaining process.

We did not. The Statesman endorsed Proposition 2, the teacher merit pay law, but opposed Prop 1.

In an interview this morning, Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot said he reviewed the ad's content in advance. "It's our fault."

The ad appeared Sunday in the Statesman and newspapers statewide.
