Country-rap should be put out to pasture

That's the headline of my column in Scene tomorrow today.

Here's a preview of what I'm talking about ...

Tell that to Jason Aldean and his banker$.

No kidding

And with all that money in his pocket, Aldean won't pay much attention to my 2 cents.

I went through the Aldean ouevre

on YouTube and the only thing I found that seemed rap-ish was Dirt Road Anthem, which I had already heard (and went, whoa, rap!) and thought was pretty cool, actually. In fact, I was surprised at how many of his songs I'd heard. Does he do rap in any of his other songs? And other than, arguably, a little bit of Sugarland's Stuck Like Glue, I couldn't think of any other country artists who use rap in their songs.

The only thing you found on youtube...??? LMAO.

It's like a Jeep thing.

try this:

Or go to "that Kuna establishment" some Friday night.

No wonder my trailers have more hits than the features.

Have to agree with Deeds on this.

But there's hardly such a thing as "true" country anymore and that's unfortunate. Actually, with few exceptions, true country started disappearing 10-15 years ago. Now it's a bunch of "pop" singers that think they're singing country songs. WRONG. ...Sunny...

Oh my...

Who thought that was a good idea?

Country-rap. That an

Country-rap. That an oxymoron, right? The most stupid are the ones buying it.

Eminem would do this much better...

although we might have to put him on suicide watch.

Oh I don't know...

It seems some how appropriate to combine the two most rotten forms of pop music ever.

smoke one

Deeds, I totally understand what you are saying here. I would rather slit my wrist than go to Shorty's and listen to hiphop.

But let's consider
Kid Rock is sliding to the country music way. He has said he doesn't think he will be rockin forever and recognizes when he gets older he may be doing more country style songs. If it works for Kid mfin Rock, then it has some merit.

Hank Jr.
Willie Nelson.

And think of some actors.
We think of Dwayne Johnson *The Rock* as an action actor. But he does some decent drama roles acting too.
Some singers are into acting.
Some actors are into singing.

So it is a matter of someone being able to show some diversity in their talents.

If I was a country rapper my stage name would be Remington Dodge.

For some good Kevin Fowler
try out the video for Hll yeah I like beer.

Reba's 'Fancy' is a narrative and still a better rap than C-Rap.
