Nicole LeFavour: 'Mike Simpson's priorities have clearly changed'

Rep. Mike Simpson has played politics with the lives of thousands of 2nd Congressional District residents, by endorsing "extreme budget plans which gut Medicare and decimate jobs," state Sen. Nicole LeFavour said.

Responding to the Statesman's endorsement of Simpson, a Republican and House appropriations subcommittee charirman, the Democratic LeFavour pledged to protect Medicare and oppose any attempts to cut or privatize Social Security.

An excerpt:

"Mike Simpson’s priorities have clearly changed. He’s voted repeatedly for budget cuts which eliminated hundreds of thousands of jobs, hurt small businesses, our communities and economy. He voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act for women and voted to add billions to the deficit to benefit millionaires and the Wall Street corporations and banks that caused our financial crisis."

LeFavour also takes Simpson to task for refusing to publicly oppose state schools superintendent Tom Luna's Students Come First education overhaul.
