Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

When you’re not enjoying one of the zillion BSU Homecoming events:

1. DANCE, DANCE, DANCE
You don’t want to pull a hammie at Thursday’s Bassnectar concert, so you’d best warm up at a couple of smaller electronic dance music shows over the weekend. Wolfgang Gartner headlines tonight at the Knitting Factory. Live electronica duo Big Gigantic hits the stage Saturday.

Warning: If the f-word offends you, don't play this video, OK?

2. PARTY IN THE NORTH END
I’m a card-carrying Edwards Greenhouse guy. But I gotta admit, North End Organic Nursery knows how to throw a party. They’ll roll out the local beer and food trucks today at Harvest Pa-Brew-Za from 4 to 8 p.m. Bring your rugrats. Have a brew.

3. BE A GOTH BRONCO FAN
The Boise State Broncos will dress in black for the game Saturday against UNLV. Purchase dark BSU attire at a local sports shop, or bust out your own black gear in support. A 1986 Metallica “Master of Puppets” tour T-shirt should be just fine.

4. BE EVIL
Local theater group Daisy’s Madhouse is back again with their song-and-dance packed take on zombies: ”Evil Dead: The Musical.” It runs tonight and Saturday (and several other dates through early November.)

5. BLOW YOUR MIND WITH UKELELE
Hawaiian-born Jake Shimabukuro headlines the Egyptian Theatre on Sunday night. This ain’t Tiny Tim. His finger-tapping is more like Eddie Van Halen. I like it when he gets expressive and plays ... Queen.
