The Boise State football team is back in The Associated Press Top 25.

The Broncos, who have been flirting with the last few spots of the poll for weeks but unable to stick there, were No. 24 on Sunday — one spot behind Louisiana Tech of the WAC and two spots ahead of Ohio of the MAC, who are Boise State’s top competitors in the BCS-buster race.

Michigan State is not ranked.

In the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, Boise State moved up three spots to No. 22. Louisiana Tech is No. 24 and Ohio is 31st. Michigan State is not ranked.

Boise State also is No. 22 in the Harris poll, which made its debut Sunday. The Harris and Coaches’ polls are part of the BCS formula. The first BCS standings come out next Sunday.

Louisiana Tech is No. 24 in Harris and Ohio is 28th.

Fresno State leads the nation with 18 takeaways. Boise State is tied for second with 17.

The Broncos, however, have played one fewer game than the other top teams. So per game, Boise State is No. 1 and Fresno State is No. 2.

The teams meet Saturday at Bronco Stadium.

Other notable rankings for the Broncos: ninth in pass-efficiency defense, 16th in scoring defense, eighth in kickoff returns, fifth in turnover margin, sixth in pass defense and seventh in sacks allowed.

This falls in line as somewhat

accurate....

There is no doubt that the rankings 18-25 will have major changes each week....some good teams still not ranked, but if they keep winning they will be....

Beaver Juice!

OSU at 9/10? Wow.

I don't think they play SC this year. But they have no bye week left, so if they can keep churning I'll be impressed. I'm not sold on their defensive depth just yet.

Nice showing by UW last night. They kept it close for a possession or two.

Im not buying OSU.

Right now, Oregon would be 23 point favorites over the Beavers. I will say OSU is much improved from last year.

Probably not quite

23. Plus the CW is in Corvallis this year.

Barring a loss, Oregon will be favored in the rest of their games this year, but I still see them dropping one. @SC, @Cal, @ASU, @OS and Stanford at home is a tough slate to get through unscathed.

ASU could be a weird kinda trap game...

I fully expect Oregon to win every game, barring some bad injuries at key skilled positions, and win the Pac 12 title and title game. I want to see Oregon and Alabama play in January for the title. The season is still young but right now I feel they are the two best teams in the country.

Cupcake U Doesn't Cut It

You must be watching reruns from the past. This team is not ready for the show. Heaven forbid that I call you a HOMER.

I agree this Bronco team is average...

Having them at 21 isnt that big of deal. The coaches have them at 22. You'll excuse Heaven, but Chadd isnt a homer.

A.P...........who cares?

"The Boise State football team is back in The Associated Press Top 25."

Oh, happy days, this is so very, very, very, very...........MEANINGLESS. Just like the A.P. Poll (A.P. stands for Absolutely Pointless)

I see the TCU Stoned Frogs

without their alcohol-powered QB dropped completely out of the rankings. Wonder if coach Patterson will reinstate him if he attends another alcohol abuse class....Sunny...

Chadd,

The AP poll of course doesn't matter, we're ranked ahead of both Louisiana Tech and Ohio in the Harris and coaches polls. So, that's good indeed. Even Mike Prater came through on that count, although he put us a little low at #24. Also, Louisiana Tech plays Texas A&M next weekend--should be interesting, but only if we can keep winning.

Charlie....Good News....

in next 6 weeks before Nevada, who barely beat Wyoming, the Broncos face opponents with combined records of 11 wins and 23 losses....Yes, the other teams will have some tougher games, thus Broncos sitting good for possible Orange Bowl....

CBS now has Florida State v Boise in the Orange Bowl....

and Boise Fans claim the BCS is not good?

Who???

How does BSU move up here...they played a very bad team...just like the old days.....

Back when So. Miss. was scheduled

they were a very good team. Time has now gone by, and they're not a very good team. Not BSU's fault, just the way it is....Sunny...

Southern Miss

Won 12 games last year. It was good scheduling gone bad. No fault of the Broncos.

I'm surprised

no one has commented on what is missing from the Coaches poll.......

Φ You mean

a single B1G team? Same for the Harris.

That would be it..

Shall we talk about how bad the Big East is?

Φ Big East

is definitely in the tank with only 3 (4 including next year's BSU addition) in the top 25: Rutgers, Cincinnati, and Louisville. Of course, that will change as they play and start knocking off one another, but not bad for 5-6 games into the season.

The pending exit of Pitt and Syracuse isn't looking like such a loss.

See that Duke is 5-1 (got smeared by Stanford)? When was the last time Duke was 5-1 (in football)?

Keeping an eye on the Pachall story. Nothing new this morning.

On top of that

those schools have been recruiting very well....

I noticed a story that the AD, Chancellor, and Pants had a meeting Sunday about "Rehab"

Φ Read the usual accounts:

Ft. Worth paper, FoxSports, ESPN. If he gets rehab, how long is that? Couple weeks? Month?

duke

could go 0-6 over the last 6. could also go 3-3 which would be a banner year for them.

Φ Pachall done at TCU,

for at least the rest of this year.

Orange Bowl?

"CBS now has Florida State v Boise in the Orange Bowl...."

And the two guys on ESPN.com, who actually know something, have Boise State in the New Mexico and Las Vegas Bowl, which is about right.

Too early!! but if BSU starts rolling

and La tech loses this weekend (probable)
And nevada starts showing some rust on the armor then we can talk what bowl we might go to. But I still am looking at a team that is yet to show a couple of sustained long 80 yard drives. And a QB and an offense that frankly looks lost at times. 3 weeks more? then we might know some things to start talking about it but as of now I dont think we can even predict the Vegas Bowl. This team needs to find it's stride. If they do, then it is on. But even last weeks game was out of reach because of field position and turnovers. The offense needs to dominate and they have not yet.

As for fresno. This may be the toughest defense fresno will see. they won't score 40 or more on us like they have been doing. But they may not need to if we cant score and lead in yardage and time of possession.

There are so many polls...
