Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

1. REMINISCE WITH CS&N
You’ll see a cross at the Crosby, Stills and Nash show tonight, but it won’t be a “Southern Cross.” Hey, Table Rock will have to do. Check out the folk-rock trio at the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise. Here they are "back in the day."

2. REMINISCE — FOR FREE — WITH STYX
Come sail away! Come sail away! You get the picture. Hit the Styx concert at 7:30 tonight at the Western Idaho Fair. (You do have to pay to get into the fair.) Styx performances strike me as humorous, which sometimes makes folks need anger-management therapy, but hey: That’s just me. I’m a “Renegade.” (Get it? Eh? Eh?)

3. BUG SOMEBODY
It’s Bug Day on Saturday at the Idaho Botanical Garden. Kids will get up close with freaky hissing cockroaches, learn about exotic insects and make cool crafts. This will be totally fun for adults, too, unless you are scarred by older siblings who held you down and put grasshopper tobacco juice on your face. In unrelated news, I'm skipping.

4. LAST CALL FOR SHAKESPEARE
This is the final weekend to see “The Imaginary Invalid” (tonight) and “The Winter’s Tale (Saturday and Sunday) at Idaho Shakespeare Festival. From Aug. 31-Sept. 29, the company will do “Noises Off” — but that’s it for the season.

5. PICNIC AT THE POPS
Normally, I don’t recommend an event two weeks in a row. But come on, man, Saturday night at Picnic at the Pops is “Music of Harry Potter, Wizards & Witches!” Give your kids a taste of the arts at the Eagle River Pavilion.
