Timberline High hires new softball coach

Kristen Burtch was hired to take over as Timberline High's head softball coach Tuesday.

Burtch is a Boise native who enjoyed a successful softball career at Timberline from 2002-05, including helping Timberline win its first 5A state championship in 2005. Burtch attended North Idaho College from 2006-08, where she was selected as the defensive player of the year in 2007 and 2008, and also selected to the 2007 and 2008 All-Scenic West Athletic Conference first team.

As a freshman at North Idaho College, Burtch helped her team finish second in the nation, setting North Idaho College records for doubles (18) and fielding percentage (.994).

Burtch replaces David Goodwin, who resigned after three seasons as head coach.
