Former Eagle High star wins Arizona State QB job

By Brian Murphy and Associated Press

TEMPE, Ariz. — Former Eagle High quarterback Taylor Kelly will be Arizona State's starting quarterback to open the season.

First-year coach Todd Graham says the redshirt sophomore has emerged from the competition with redshirt freshman Michael Eubank and sophomore Mike Bercovici (Bur-koh-VEE-chee).

Graham says that while Kelly will start the Sun Devils' season opener Aug. 30 against Northern Arizona, the touted Eubank will get some playing time.

Kelly played in two games for Arizona State last season, completing all four of his passes for 31 yards.

Way to go Taylor

"Make Idaho proud." Taylor Kelly...Jake Plummer...great article

"Make Idaho proud." Taylor Kelly did just that Monday. And Jake Plummer is smiling...great article with an Idaho focus here:

Coach Erickson? I understand the frustration but choose to focus on solid recruiting during his tenure at ASU. Leading the Sun Devils to a 10–2 regular season record in 2007, a share of the Pac-10 title, and a berth in the Holiday Bowl. Erickson was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year, an honor Sun Devil Athletics.

Congrats, Taylor!

Great news! My son goes to Eagle High School and I'm a Sun Devil who was lucky enough to have season tickets the year Jake Plummer and his teammates took us to the Rose Bowl -- looking forward to see Taylor Kelly's debut against the Lumberjacks!
