Check current fire situation and have a Plan B

We're in the heat of fire season, and it's going to be a big one. When you're making your weekend plans, make sure to double check for fire closures where you're going, and have an alternative plan. You can also expect morning smoke in a lot of camping places because as temperatures cool at night smoke settles in valley, meadows and lakes, which are prime camping areas. Even if there isn't a fire nearby, you may encounter smoke because it can travel a long ways. But that's no reason to stay indoors. There are still lots of places available that haven't been affected by fires. For a map of where major fires are happening in Idaho, go HERE.
Here's another handy site that shows where there are road closures and delays. Note: This may not show Forest Service Road closures because those are outside Idaho Transportation Department's jurisdiction. Get road intel HERE.
