I have to hand it to Snake River, it rarely disappoints. My friend Mike Toalson and I hit the river on Sunday afternoon. In about the first five minutes of fishing, we landed our first bass and had fairly steady fishing until a biblical dust storm rolled through, which not only shut down the fishing, was downright eerie. This was the biggest of the bunch and probably weighed in the 2 to 3-pound range. There was no fancy fishing involved. We just stripped streamers and held on for the sharp tugs and acrobatic leaping when we hooked one. As we were leaving we saw some people floating the river in inner tubes and department-store rafts. We had to row hard downstream to overcome the wind. Bet they had a good story to tell when they got home.
