Free coffee for Dutch Bros. grand opening at Franklin, Orchard

The new Dutch Bros. Coffee at Franklin and Orchard in Boise will kick off its opening Friday with free drinks all day, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

All kinds of drinks of any size will be free. "You can go as many times as you want" that day, but only one per trip, said a company spokeswoman.

The store's address is 101 S. Orchard St., in the parking lot of Fred Meyer. A spokeswoman for the Oregon-based company said to expect traffic jams from cars lining up for free drinks.

The franchise is locally owned by husband and wife Brian and Libby Wight, who met as Dutch Bros. coworkers in Bend, Ore. They now own six Dutch Bros. locations in Boise, employing 72 full- and part-time workers.

The drive-through coffee shop will open at 5 a.m. every day, and it will close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Just tried them for the first time the other day, pretty good!

Does this one have a walk-up

Does this one have a walk-up window? I hardly ever drive anywhere, and the window at the one on Vista is kinda awkward to walk up to when there are cars in line.

I'm pretty sure it does

But I'll check on my way home and let you know.

Yes, there are is a walk-up window

I think there are two, actually.

I was just by there, and it

I was just by there, and it does have a walk up window. But the people were snaking thru the parking lot, looked like a 20 minute wait for either the drive thru or walk up at around 9:30 this morning.

No joke

That is one busy place this morning. When I went by, the line hadn't quite spilled onto the street yet, but it looked like a tailgate party.
