Gordmans department store now open in Meridian

The department store chain Gordmans has now opened its second Idaho store. The 50,000-square-foot, newly built store opened in Meridian Thursday at Eagle Road and Fairview Avenue.

We reported the opening plans in an April story about national retailers coming to the Treasure Valley.

The store will have its grand opening July 26 to 29. The publicly traded company's CEO Jeff Gordman will present a $2,500 check to the Meridian Joint School District at a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting July 26. Gordmans has a program that contributes money to local schools, and since 2000 has contributed more than $1 million to public school systems in 18 states, the company says.

The grand opening will include drawings for gift cards worth $25 to $100 and other special promotions.

Gordmans also recently opened a Nampa store at 16740 N. Marketplace Blvd.
