Nineteen Idaho high school football teams ranging from the 5A to 2A classifications will be in Boise this Friday and Saturday for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Football Challenge.
Formerly known as the 7-on-7 passing tournament, this two-day event begins with round-robin games from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex on Hill Road in Boise. Competition resumes at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with single-elimination games followed by the junior varsity championship at noon and the varsity championship at 2 p.m.
A Lineman's Challenge game of tug-of-war has been added to the schedule and will include two sessions Friday at noon and 2 p.m. The championship is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday.
Admission is free.
The teams scheduled to compete include: Bishop Kelly, Boise, Borah, Capital, Centennial, Columbia, Eagle, Emmett, Fruitland, Highland, Kuna, Lake City, Meridian, Mountain Home, Mountain View, New Plymouth, Rigby, Rocky Mountain and Skyview.
