Boise High softball player earns spot on international team

Erica Dick, a senior-to-be at Boise High, is one of 14 girls selected to play for a USA Athletes International softball team in a July 29 through Aug. 7 tournament in Italy.

According to the USAAI website, athletes are chosen for the team based on recommendations from "coaches, athletes and athletics professionals. Recommendations are based not only on athletic ability, but also on depth of character, leadership ability and scholastic efforts."

During the 2011-12 high school softball season, Dick played shortstop and pitcher for the Braves, landing on the 5A Southern Idaho Conference's first team at utility.

Dick, 17, has made a verbal commitment to play softball for Northern Colorado.
