Rocky Mountain High grad earns SAMMY scholarship

David Trompke, a 2012 graduate of Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, was recently chosen as a recipient of the 2012 Scholar Athletes Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award and a $7,500 scholarship.

Trompke was one of 25 students chosen from an applicant pool of more than 30,000.

The SAMMY winners will take a trip to Disney World with their families and attend an awards ceremony hosted by NBA player Chauncey Billups and USA softball star Jennie Finch. The winners also will appear in a Milk Mustache ad in USA Today.

Trompke will attend Harvard beginning this fall where he will play football and compete in track and field.

Cassidy Baumgartner, Timberline High: The 2012 graduate and Wolves golfer recently received scholarships from PGA National and the Rocky Mountain PGA Foundation. Baumgartner will attend Whitworth beginning this fall.

In their 15th year, USA Today and the milk people really do it up right. Chauncey and Jennie are great roll models. What a great experience meeting such talented and gifted kids and their families.
