Here's Boise State's football roster broken down by position and class

I’m going to keep a position-by-position roster on our website this year, which can be helpful when trying to figure out the options at a particular position and where the coaches are going to focus their attention in recruiting. Each position is broken down by class, not by standing on the depth chart. With each position, I list the number of players, then a slash, then the number of those players on scholarship. I used bold to separate the classes. An asterisk indicates a walk-on.

Right now, it appears the Broncos have 98 players on the roster. They can take 105 into fall camp, which begins Aug. 4. New walk-ons will be added that day. They also have 86 scholarship players to fill 82 slots (the NCAA limited the Broncos to 82, instead of 85, for three years). However, four recruits were identified as likely grayshirts before signing day — so the numbers should work out.

A note on numbers: The players who joined the team in January don't have numbers on the roster at broncosports.com, so I've left them as "NA" in case they change over the summer.

For now, this will be in my blog. But I’ll add a link on our Boise State football site so it will be easy to find.

Two that stand out

Renaud @ 250

Paul @ 265

agree

I think Renuad is going to have a big year. It seems like BSU is loading up on tight ends so we should see a lot of formations with two tight ends to force some miss matches with the defense.

Darn it!

I lost my roster sheet from the Spring Game. I made notes as to who I was impressed with. I'll have to go based on memory. Darn.

WR Troy Ware hauled in the TD pass from Patti. He's going to be a beast!
DE Demarcus Lawrence and Sam Ukwuachu are going to be studs. With Rickt TAT and Canadian Bacon...ya, nobody is running on us.
S Lee Hightower will be dominant.
S Jeremy Ioane is very good, and he'll continue to improve. His pick in the Spring Game was nice.

I forgot the name of the LB that also picked off a pass.

That would have been

Renaud.....

Huh?

"NA Steven Baggett, 6-3, 225, Fr."

I'd say that HAS to be an error. He is an offensive lineman and was listed previously at 260 lbs.

Impressive

looking bunch of freshmen. The cupboard is stocked for another big run.

Tyler Horn

is approaching Tyrone Crawford size, he's going to be a monster. Also, noticed the added weight on Faraji Wright and Greg Grimes which should bode well for their increased playing time.

Right On

We are going into this season a virtual mystery to our opponents. When we line up Aug 31 we will be nearly as capable a team, but in ways much different than the last 2 or 3 years. And yes, we are stocked out into the future with some studs. Hang on for another great ride.

The national media focuses

The national media focuses on our lack of returning starters but look at these names. There are a lot of household names because they've played.
