Class V kayaking is difficult and dangerous. When you screw up, the river keeps moving, and it's taking you where you probably don't want to go. I say that because kayakers racing in the North Fork Championships on Saturday were so smooth and in control they almost made it look too easy. Trust me, it's not. They're another sign how far kayaking has come and how good the top-level kayakers are at taking on the North Fork of the Payette's toughest rapids and doing with poise, grace and control. Ryan Casey of Hailey won the event among a star-studded group of paddlers that are among the world's best. It was an inspirational event. Job well done.
